All the items came in good condition. I am a beginner sour dough maker. But, after making sour dough, I did not think that all the items were necessary. I could have done without any of the items. The dutch whisk would probably the only item I would really need.

This is a pretty great starter set (pun intended - get it? sourdough starter? lol). It has all the basics you need.I was a little late to the sourdough baking party, seems most people started during the shutdown but I just got into it fairly recently. I'm not new to baking in general, or even bread baking, but sourdough is a bit of a different process so it's a nice luxury to have some specific tools designed to go with the steps. I have another kit similar to this that I love, and now I'm getting my sister-in-law interested in baking sourdough too, so I wanted to have two sets for us to work with.This set really has all the basics you need, but the stars of this show are the banneton and the dough whisk. The banneton (basket) itself is perfect, just the right size for a boule that fits the Dutch oven perfectly. It is woven of natural rattan which I prefer over a silicone one I have, and is also an upgrade over a regular bowl in my opinion, and it has a nice fabric (linen? muslin?) liner, which I hand wash. And the Danish dough whisk - this one is big and sturdy! The diameter is much larger than my other one (see photo), and it's super strong, just a great whisk for working your dough ingredients.The lame is basic but nice since it's on a handle, which I find more comfortable to use than the little disc shaped type I have, and it comes with extra blades. If you don't know how to attach the blade, there are many short videos posted online, it is easy once you've done it once but it's nice to watch someone else do it the first time. (btw am I the only one who didn't know how to pronounce lame as "lahm"? If you didn't know either, now you can impress your friends haha.) The plastic scraper is helpful for gently coaxing your dough out of the bowl, the bench scraper for working with it on the countertop/bench but also has plenty of other uses (although the squared handle isn't my favorite, I have rounded ones I prefer, but that's personal opinion). As for the little scrub brush, to be honest I'm not into it since it's plastic, it's not really something that needs to be included in this set in my opinion.Anyway, if you are new to baking sourdough and need some nice tools to get started, or are looking for a quality gift set for someone else, the tools in this one are pretty great and I definitely recommend it!

This sourdough bread kit is awesome! Are used to Big bread and rolls that would pull apart, but never got into sourdough until recently. Breadmaking is an art.Sometimes these kids are thrown together with sub standard materials, but these feel sturdy.If you have a want to be baker at your house, this is a great gift!
