Better alternative than little ice cubes for ice chest
I plan on using this large ice mold to make ice blocks for my ice chest when entertaining. When I was growing up, we would go out on the river with Dad's boat and picnic on an island out on the river. We also used then when going camping. My Mom would keep a supply of ice blocks that she made from washed out milk cartons. The ice lasted longer in the ice chest than using bags of ice. She would take one of these blocks of ice and take an ice pick to it to break it up for drinks. These silicone ice mold that I purchased reminded me of those blocks of ice. A very efficient way to have an ice supply stock in our large freezer to break down for drinks, and to fill the wine bucket for chilling champagne and wine.

Expensive Ice Tray
This is a very expensive ice tray. This design is an improvement over a rectangular version that I've seen in that this one has the steel reinforced top. The top of the ice tray is rigid and feels secure. Even with the weight of the water, the top rim is strong enough to hold it all. The sides have a couple of ribs to help reinforce them but it's not enough. There is still a significant bulge in the sides and the bottom too. Mostly the bulge doesn't matter, once it's frozen it's not an issue anymore. They do take up a lot of space in the freezer and they are not stackable until fully frozen. There is no way I'm putting these chunks of ice in a bath tub, at least not one that I'm going to be in. I'm using these freeze ice for my ice chest. Freeze the block, dump it in a trash bag, smack it a few times with a hammer then dump it in the ice chest. Really, the same thing could be accomplished with a gallon pitcher, and it even has a handle. For what you get, these are just too expensive. Save your money and make your ice blocks in a pitcher instead.

BIG Blocks!
Ok, these molds make truly HUGE ice blocks. The 8lb weight makes them a bit cumbersome compared to smaller ones, but these things take quite a while for our chickens to destroy. They LOVE ice blocks -partially for the hydration, but also I think they like it to help manicure & clean their beaks. Even in the dead of winter, they will happily stand on the frozen snow & peck away! When summer starts to heat up they'll enjoy the cooling benefits and any fresh treats I put inside during the freezing process.

BIG!!
If we wanted to get two of these in our freezer at the same time, we would have to get rid of a lot of stuff in the freezer. And, we have a pretty big fridge/freezer. These things are big. One of them is going to take up a section that's about 10 1/2" by 9" by 5." I like the idea of being able to make my own ice blocks. They are much more efficient than using bags of ice in a cooler. So, think about how to fit these in your fridge before you buy.In terms of quality, these molds are very good. They are made of thick silicon, and it is very easy to get the frozen blocks out of the molds. All you have to do is put the frozen mold on a counter top, and push the handles downwards. The block will easily separate from the mold.If you want to make your own ice blocks and have a big freezer with extra space in it. These are five stars. If freezer space is at a premium for you, these are three (or maybe two) stars. I'll average that out to four stars.

Excellent, huge ice molds!
I’ve bought a few similar large ice molds off of Amazon and these are the best I’ve found! Not only are they huge, they also have a reinforced rim which really helps prevent the mold from deforming or even collapsing like many others. Yes, the bottom can still bulge a little and ice will naturally deform the mold a little no matter what because….well, H2O and physics. They are pricey but far better than most others out there. Recommended!

Giant icecubes for your ice bath, so much better than keep buying store-bought ice cubes
8lbs ice blocks? Perfect, just what we needed for our small ice bath. Get home from work, drop these in the ice bath, light snack, gym, and then jump in the now-freezing water to recover. Fill them up and get ready for the next session. No more picking up 20 lbs bags on the way home.
