Im going to cut led strip lights to length, then solder wire between the lengths, what gauge should i choose for this application?

I've been putting together a project using 3mm LED's and I'm working with 26guage wire which works well for my needs, be careful when striping the wire coating for soldering the strands are very thin. Also you can purchase what I believe to be is 26 guage prewired LED's in various colors with 5Am resistors and safe for 5 to12v power adapter.

can the 16 gauge wire be used for the neutral in a wall switch?

I would not recommend this wire for house wiring. I also recommend a minimum of 14 gauge white wire for a neutral. A neutral carries as much current as a hot. (Note: you need to carry enough current to trip the breaker or fuse and not burn up the wire if a short occurs) Check with a local electrician to find out what the codes are in your area. Even the folks at Home Depot have a good idea of what is required in your area. If you insist on using stranded make sure it is THHN.

What is the max amperage of this wire? Can I use it for a motorcycle primary wiring harness?

I used 22 gauge for terminating ow amp electronics . Primary wire is subjected to Battery loads . The norm for this is 8 or 10 gauge. !6 gauge would be used in secondary fused systems. The insulation should be stronger in my opinion for use on a motorcycle.
