This is a great sharpener that has more than one setting depending on what type of knife you are sharpening. What's great about this is you aren't limited to a small "one size fits all" sharpener like the typical small ones that you have to hold in place or suction to the counter. It's very lightweight and I loved the handle that is away from the sharpener so you can not only get a good grip and apply pressure but you don't have to worry about slipping and slicing into your finger. The adjustable dial has different settings, and I love that there is a setting for serrated knives like bread knives, which I've never sharpened prior to owning this because I didn't know that was possible. I will say the only negative for me is getting used to the scraping feeling and sensation of some of these settings, which sounds and feels very "nails on chalkboard" for certain knives. This does do a great job though, and while it is bigger than the small standard sharpener it stores easily in a drawer or behind a knife block for easy access. You also don't have to hold this at the base or get it sectioned down before you can use it since the handle is comfortable and allows you to apply pressure as you sharpen so you can safely sharpen with your other hand. This would be a great gift for a chef or a person that cooks a lot. I cook daily and find myself using this about twice a week instead of waiting until I've dulled several knives and am then forced to do then all at once.
