Greatest licorice
This is by far my most favorite licorice because it is soft, great taste, easy to chew and swallow.

Deliciously soft licorice, almost always.
Oops, looks like someone fell asleep at the wheel. Check your dates, the best before date on this bag is 24 August 2022, yes the year 2022 (today is 19 Feb. 2024) so I'm not reviewing that bag. But I have had this brand of licorice many times both strawberry and black and they are absolutely delicious and very soft. Good on ya mates!

Seriously? 8 bags for $4 and change? Nice...
I have to be honest here. I was buying some items off a Amazon gift card and didn't want to leave it w/ less than $5, so I decided to get a small treat (i.e., candy). I was only expecting A bag, so imagine my surprise when a box of 8 showed up!As for the product itself....I need to be honest here as well and mention I never had soft Australian licorice, just Twizzlers (and Vines, don't know if that counts). When I first opened the box (smell is amazing) it felt hard, however it was very cold outside so I gave it some time and it did soften up. Thing is, how do I judge it's softness and taste since I have nothing to compare it to? I'll take up the negative points in other comments. Is it hard as a rock? Not even close. I easily bend or twist a piece in half, tho I can't squeeze it flat between my fingers like a marshmallow. It is softer than Twizzler bites and Nibs if that helps. I have no problem with the texture at all (but again, I am not comparing to anything). Is it flavorless like some are saying? IMO it has TOO MUCH flavor lol. I love sweet but this is a bit too sweet, even for me. The first few secs. it's perfect but once you bite it you get an explosion of strawberry sweetness...which may be a good thing for some people (taste is so subjective)...for me, too overwhelming. For reference, I can eat a 1lb bag of Twizzler nibs or bites in one sitting. What? I'm only said I could, not saying I did (hehe I did).I wish I could be of better help. For less than $5 (what I paid) it was worth it, it certainly wasn't unedible. If I gift half the bags and eat a piece or two once in a while, imo, it will be well worth it. They need to make it w/ less sugar (not just no sugar), the amount in one piece and/or one serving is insane!

Taste and texture
I love the taste and anyone who's not tasted this licorice that taste fabulously superb as missed out on the best not just liquors but the best natural sweet on Earth that's made from the best stuff on her I threw the roof over above and beyond any accolades that could ever be given most highly recommend this to Chris above everything

Tasty but not strong and could be softer
While this is a perfectly tasty treat, I was a little disappointed after having tried the same brand's black licorice. This is not as soft nor does it have as strong a flavor. While the flavor, to me, did not seem as strong as a national brand's red twist candy, it was more natural tasting so kind of a trade-off. The texture leaned a little bit too far toward a gummy candy for me.

Caveat Emptor!
Major disappointment! After reading many positive reviews I was anticipating a real taste treat. In my case nothing could be further from the truth! If you like over-priced, tasteless, initially hard and then eventually gummy red glue, this is the one for you! To call it tasty would verge on being criminal! The unpleasant aftertaste will linger seemingly forever in your mouth unless you brush your teeth! The phrase "rip-off" comes to mind as does "waste of money". Do yourself a favor.....buy a nice fresh tub of tasty Red Vines and avoid this purchase.....much more satisfying and much less expensive!

Delicious
Soft, not sticky, and tasty. Also, no palm oil used and that a plus for anyone interested in helping save orangutans and their habitat.

Why are they so hard now?
These were a lot harder to chew through than I remember when target used to sell them. I remember them being really soft, now they’re like the toughness of a beef jerky. Like my teeth kind of hurt eating these. I happened to find some at my local fresh market and I could feel through the packaging that it wasn’t just what I recieved. I thought maybe sitting out in the cold before I brought it inside had something to do with it or maybe they had been sitting in a warehouse a long time. Nope. The texture was always what had me coming back for more... pretty disappointing. The flavor is still good though...
