A pedagocical masterpiece
This is probably the most pedagogical exposition of Newtonian and Lagrangian mechanics at entry level. The required mathematics is explained as the author introduces concepts in physics where this math is needed (and this, in fact, is exactly how this mathematical machinery was developed). The derivations are thorough and nothing important is left out. There are hundreds of exercises at different levels. Quite frankly, this book is a good example of how a modern textbook in physics (or any other exact science) should be written.

A general and comprehensive book for classical mechanics
In my view, Taylor's one is the best I had read. The book is self-consistence, so one don't need to worry too much about the background.

Excellent physics text. Treatment of Langrangian and Hamiltonian very well done.

A superb text
I think it is a very good book. It has most of the insight that one needs to understand classical mechanics. It covers lots of topics and contains many interesting examples. I judge it to be as a superb text in classical mechanics.

Buy if recommended by your college, otherwise not.
The text may be a good BUT only if u read from the beginning and follow each topic in serial order. The book assumes u have studied all prior pages when u read a topic, hence the problems and explainations of concepts also use the topics that have been covered before the chapter ur currently reading. This is do-able if this is the official recommended textbook in your institution and your syllabus is based around it, or you just want to read classical mechanics by yourself. otherwise no.My college has topics that the book covers, but the book assumes i have read previous chapters which are advanced mechanics and not a part of my syllabus, so the book has been a waste for me. Also the book does not covers several important topics like rolling motion and gravitation. It must also be noted that the book assumes u have already done 101 of classical mechanics.
