Coarse grit means it's not too useful for putting on a sharp finish in most cases, but can be useful in some cases
I have both the red and blue handled versions (different sharpening steel profiles). I couldn't find the exact grit stated anywhere online nor on the packaging but after using them, they seem too coarse to me for the stated uses. After using them on a knife the end result was ok but not amazing. May be useful for the first pass to remove chips or other damage though. The locking screw which allows you to lower the diamond coated sharpening steel into the handle/housing also feels a bit rough.
