Shel Silverstein, the great American poet, singer-songwriter, musician, composer, cartoonist, screenwriter and author of children's books, became known primarily for his oddball sense of humor and the hit songs he wrote for Johnny Cash "(A Boy Named Sue"), Dr. Hook ("Cover Of The Rolling Stone" and many others), Loretta Lynn ("One's on the Way"), Bobby Bare ("Tequila Sheila") and had his songs performed by a host of top artists from Judy Collins to My Morning Jacket. Shel developed quite an underground following as a singing artist in his own right and released several albums featuring his unique sense of humor and distinctive gravely voice.
