BDSM read
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.Long time lovers, Phil and Terry are back on track as they forge forward in a new and distinctive relationship. Terry, is so lost with out his anchor, luckily he has his camera and that settles him. Phil, also lost but in a different was has been on a mission these last few years with one goal in mind, fix what he broke and win Terry back. Overall a really good and hit read!

The characters are well grounded and not flawless which is always a good thing, No one is flawless
This story is as much about forgiveness and building trust as much as it is about BDSM. Phil Left Terry for a big job. Leaving Terry broken. But whilst away Phil has learned a lot about himself and even more about his relationship with Terry before it ended. Upon his return he begs Terry to have dinner with him. They start off on very rocky ground, and Phil suggesting they were all but in name in a BDSM dynamic relationship before, and what was missing was their acceptance of their roles. As you can imagine Terry is very skeptical and we see an emotional and steamy ride towards forgiveness, trust, and acceptance. The characters are well grounded and not flawless which is always a good thing, No one is flawless. The building of their relationship and repairing the damage of before, is well paced and feels real. This is my first book by the author, but I have since bought more of her books.I recommend this book to anyone interested in BDSM, especially if you like there to be a real relationship and mutual respect between the DOM and Sub. I give this book 4.5 Stars

Firecracker ;)
A great little BDSM story. Phil and Terry get back together, with Phil introducing Terry to the D/s way of life. A firecracker of a story, culminating in a great scene. Leaves you wanting more!

Role Play
~~I read my personal copy of this book and reviewed it for Wicked Reads ~~Having read many D/s books, I have mixed views about the storyline, but am looking forward to reading the next installment to see how the relationship has progressed. Terry has been avoiding relationships, since the then cavalier Phil just upped and left him. It is hardly surprising that when Phil returns Terry is somewhat sceptical, yet loving him still, he tries Phil's suggested solution. Here is where I had a few hiccups. It was clear that Terry is by nature submissive, but he has to moderate his behaviour and desires a lot, and whilst Phil wasn't aggressive, he was persistent. That said, given Terry's fantasy scene, he wanted to be pushed ... And that is one of the really good things about the story, that it made me really think about just exactly what was going on ....So, can't wait to get to the next in the series.~~Wicked Reads Review Team~~

Not a convincing dynamic
I found this book unconvincing in regards to the relationship between the 2 main characters, not only does Terry instantly take Phil back very quickly but he has clear trust issues due to the 3 year abandonment that his Dom Phil does not address. I no issue with stories covering bdsm but to my mind trust is fundamental but that is just not shown, not only does Phil ignore clear signs that Terry fears being left again making their dynamic totally unbalanced, but Terry cannot even trust the club he is taking to with issues being flagged around confidentiality (which Phil again does not seem to take seriously) and then later it being a club that allows sub abuse. None of this makes the idea that Terry can feel safe and trusting a believable one.

A second chance romance with some kinky bits...slight spoilers incl.
3.5* We join Phil and Terry (LOL – sounds like an 80s Brit sit-com ;) ) who are reuniting for the first time after a 3 year separation (when Phil chose his career over the love of his life). Now a fully trained Dominant/Master, Phil’s back to make amends and win Terry back, not only as his lover but as his Dom too. Must admit, Phil’s whole ‘scared of rejection’ reason for leaving Terry seemed like a real cop-out imo, but that aside, I enjoyed this one. There's no dithering here, with the couple rapidly moving from forgiveness to living together to settling into their new Master/sub roles all at full-throttle, with talk of them even entering into a 24/7 lifestyle D/s relationship in the future…which always provides no end of fascination for me.Overall, this was a sweet tale with some mild sex and BDSM content - well...up until the final scene at least...which sees Terry realise one of his deepest fantasies involving CnC role-play (or forced-sex scene) - so if this is a possible trigger or just not your cuppa tea….beware! However, I personally thought it was hot, and the author easily conveyed the love and complete trust between the couple during their aftercare scene. Off to read book 2 now as I'm eager to see how these guys progress – especially with Phil's dream of Total Power Exchange!

Beginning a BDSM lifestyle
Terry is a photographer in Hollywood and very much alone since his boyfriend from three years old left him to produce a TV show in Canada. Phil is back and asks for forgiveness and a chance to start up their relationship again, only with a twist. Phil became a Master in the BDSM lifestyle and wants Terry to agree go be his submissive. Terry still loves Phil so he agrees to give it a try and this well written book is the story of their journey into the lifestyle. It is very tastefully done with lots of love and steam. I am anxious to start the next book in the series.

BDSM
Phil had broken up with Terry awhile back to go to Toronto for a new film production. But soon he comes to realise how precious their relationship was and returns to Terry to beg for a second chance. Phil also wants to introduce D/S aspects to Terry and take him to a sex club and try some scenes. Terry, though reluctant to fully embrace a TPE relationship, has his own fantasies to enact with Phil. It's a good story, though the scenes were too much explained and picked apart.

Quick and steamy read
A quick and steamy read with smoking-hot scenes and tender moments.Although the characters were likable enough, I found something missing. Terry and Phil split up three years ago, and now Phil is back. I understand that there are lingering feelings, but I felt their reconnection was too easy. I would have liked some more background information to get a good feel for these men. Now it was like jumping right into the deep end, and for me, it was a huge jump from ex-partners to a D/s relationship. What I did like was the fact that both Terry and Phil had to learn to be in such a relationship. Most of the times the Dom is an established Dom and guides his partner into the submissive role. In this book, Phil also has to learn how to be a Dom. That is a nice change. They have to get accustomed to their changing dynamics by talking, and trusting, each other. These talks climax into a role play where they are acting out Terry’s deepest secrets. Although I am not a stranger to reading BDSM, this is not the type of play I very much enjoy. It is very well described, though, and I had to remind myself that it was, indeed, role play. It was gripping. You can leave that to this author. This is the first book in a series, and I am very much looking forward to reading more about Phil and Terry.

Not what I've come to expect from MK.
Role Play (Play Series Book 1) by Morticia Knight3.5 starsM/M BDSMTriggers: Unwanted attention from a non-lover, consensual rape sceneI was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.I normally love Morticia Knight books - but this seems like it was not her style.Phil and Terry are kind of an odd couple. It is hinted that they had a great relationship; one that would have lasted them a lifetime. But, when Phil is given an amazing opportunity, he leaves Terry behind without a second thought.Three years have passed. Terry is a successful photographer who is trying to continue on with his life, but not doing it very successfully - he's existing, but not really living. Also, he's on edge when he has to work with an "up and coming" actor, Anson who is slipper and slimy.Phil comes back hoping to rekindle things with Terry now that he has figured out that he is a Dom. He believes that Terry is a sub, based on how their relationship roles were before and is almost desperate in his attempt to see if Terry wants to try again - can trust Phil again. This is where I have my largest qualm with this book - Terry instantly forgives - after three years of no contact, he's just ready to jump head first again. And, while I don't believe in punishing unnecessarily, it seems that there should have been more of a developing story. Not only does Terry forgive, but he tells Phil a secret fantasy of being forced by a stranger - a role that Phil takes and runs with. Now, while this isn't super graphic, there are implications for future book story-lines and scenes.Another aspect that seemed strange was the ending. Now, while i can see that there is going to be at least one more book, the ending to this one was so abrupt that I had to go back and make sure that I hadn't missed anything. This just wasn't the type of writing or story that I had come to expect from Knight. I am hoping that the second installation goes better.
