Not perfect, but dang close. Easily the nicest Jeweler's Anvil I've found, and at a great price.
Firstly, this anvil is very well made, with better design and more attention to detail than any others I have found. As other's noted, there was some superficial rust and tooling marks around the horns which aren't apparent in the product images. Also as others noted, the shaping hole in the flat horn has some gunk in it, but it was just some of the oil coagulated within: I cleaned it out easily with a couple Q-tips, no drilling required. It is advertised as hardened mild carbon steel, not stainless, so don't expect a stainless steel anvil. Carbon in mild steel is necessary for hardening, which means that if this anvil left un-oiled and subjected to moisture, it will rust. This is the case with all carbon steels. All that said, I consider all these things to be very minor, and typical of hardened carbon steel products. All in all this is a VERY nice jeweler's anvil, and is higher quality and has more thoughtful design than any other of it's type that I have found. It has a very nice mirror finish, and is packed in a thick sealed plastic bag with some oil inside to prevent rust, but again, steel is steel, and if it sits around for awhile, it's going to get some rust on it. I imagine a little steel wool an fifteen minutes would work the surface rust right out, but I plan to use this anvil as a tool, not a paperweight, so I'm not upset that it's not picture-perfect right out of the box. For $25, this Jeweler's Anvil is excellent.

Reliable and cute!
Has been very reliable over half a year now with weekly beatings! No denting or any surface issues with it what so over. If your a bench jeweler or just want a tiny anvil it's perfect.

Very small, heavy, and cute
This is a very small anvil, but heavy. I don’t know if I can use it to make jewelry, but it will make a nice shiny paperweight. After washing the oil from the anvil, I had to drill out the one hole that’s on the top of the anvil. It was filled in completely with gunk…-1 point

the picture is much better than the real anvil
thought it should be shine and smooth like the picture, plus it is magnetic, doubt if real stainless steel.

Nice!
Technically not quite grade-A per se, but generally nicely finished and polished. Shape is thoughtfully designed. Though not mentioned in the description or shown in the pictures, there is a threaded hole on the bottom for firm bench-top mounting; a nice, useful feature.
