This book is a strong choice for TOEFL preparation. It includes clear explanations, solid tips, and three full practice tests that really help simulate the exam experience. The reading and listening sections are especially helpful.I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I would’ve liked more detailed feedback or strategies for the speaking and writing sections. Still, it’s a reliable resource for anyone preparing seriously for the TOEFL.

I absolutely like that it was very informational and helps you break things down and understand everything. It helps prepare you for what ahead. Everything you need is in this book and categories. It's a great tool for what you need and expect. Definitely will be buying from this brand again.

I review multiple resources when studying for a standardized assessment to ensure I am fully prepared. Although I have not taken the TOEFL iBT Test, I have compared the TOEFL Preparation Book 2023-2024 by Joshua Rueda and the Praxis material on the ETS website. In this review, I will share my thoughts on what is good, what needs work, and my recommendations.What's Good?I appreciate how straightforward this practice guide is. It is broken down into easy-to-digest sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. This approach allows participants to focus on one area at a time without feeling overwhelmed. The practice guides also offer examples, test-taking strategies, free videos, and audio content, some via QR Codes, which is very convenient.What Needs Work?Although the author provides many practice opportunities, no page breaks or transition pages make it hard to know when a section begins and ends. The ETS website notes that as of July 26, 2023, the TOEFL iBT test taken at a test center or home will feature a more modern and concise Writing task called "Writing for an Academic Discussion." This task replaces the Independent Writing task. How will this change be incorporated into the study guide to help test takers succeed with the new version of the writing section? Additionally, providing more detailed scoring resources, such as performance descriptors and scoring guide rubrics, would be helpful. It is also essential to ensure that all content in the guide is aligned with the newest version of the test so that test takers will feel successful and prepared.My RecommendationsTo make it easier for test takers who have recently purchased the book or have yet to take the test, it would be beneficial to access new writing material since there have been some recent changes. I recommend adding additional resources and content to the existing QR Codes without requiring someone to purchase a new book or resource. Additionally, providing page breaks or transition pages would make it easier to navigate the content.
