Gastromax 7405-1 Wire Cheese Slicer Black Colour

I bought this to replace my old one that finally wore out after many years used and dishwashed every day. It is one of the best kitchen tools I have had. It is much neater and safer than using a knife.It cuts easily and in uniform slices, with a choice of two thicknesses. I find it easier to use than the triangular shape with a slot. When the wire goes slack you just give the nut at the top a bit of a turn to re-tighten, and when it eventually breaks it is easy to replace. One pack of 2 spare wires lasted me the 10+ years I had my old one.We buy a supermarket brand lower fat cheddar-type cheese and it cuts through cleanly and easily. The only time the slice is not whole is when there is a 'crack' through the block. I find the best way to cut a slice is to place the cheese on a board/work surface holding it with one hand, and with the other place the metal rod on the top at the far side and pull towards you so the wire goes through the cheese. When you get nearly to the end start to angle the cut to the corner where your thumb is to stop the end bit breaking off so you get a full, neat slice.I had scoured the shops for a replacement and was so relieved to find one on Amazon. It came quickly, well packed for safe delivery and easy to open. To say I'm pleased is an understatement!

This is a good quality and robust cheese slicer. The slices are a bit thicker than my old slicer, but it's not a deal breaker for me- still a lot thinner than if I was to hack away at my block of cheese with a knife!

Item is as described. I like that you have two different sizes you can choose from to slice your cheese. Easy to clean, very sturdy. Would recommend.

Has 2 sides for thinner or thicker cuts and is perfect for slicing big cheese blocks even the flat side. wire can be changed or tensioned as required. You will still have to cut your canberry wensleydale with a knife though.

I had something similar which eventually broke so was looking for a replacement which took some research. This does the job well, has two different thicknesses and will hopefully last a long time like my last one. I do think there is a knack to using these but once you have it they are great.

It doesn’t slice through a little harder cheese. Manchego

Had a couple of these now.. wires break fairly easily and replacements are not available as far as I can see..?

Cuts better than the white plastic style I previously had, cleaner at the end of the cut on a block of cheese. Previous one broke in the middle, this looks and feels sturdier.
