Use with autistic son and it works well- pictures included
I use this with my autistic 11 year old. It is the junior notebook, writing is a challenge for our son. This notebook is a perfect compliment to the textbook which I also purchased and reviewed. I thought the lessons would be too tough at first and wondered if the notebook would bring discouragement, it does sometimes. There is a writing passage for each lesson that is not necessary, it is to practice handwriting. This notebook has two coloring pages at the beginning of each lesson that is just filler but the pictures do go with the lessons. We enjoy the mini books at the end to cut out and fill in. You could take all the mini books and make a lapbook with them using folders. We do that and he likes it. I guide him though some parts but mainly he is doing it all himself. He is at a 3rd-4th grade reading level. Pictures of him using it included.

excellent workbook
i homeschool my 1st grade son and he loves this journal. i wasn't going to buy it b/c i didn't think it was necessary. i also hesitated b/c another reviewer mentioned the idea that boys might not like the coloring involved. i am so happy i bought this journal anyway. firstly, it lays out your lesson plans for you which makes teaching a breeze. secondly, my son actually asks to do science b/c he likes to color and draw while i read to him. it's such a cool way to work. i really can't believe how enthusiastic he is about working in this journal. Great addition to the Series!
We actually bought both the regular notebooking journal as well as this Junior version for my two kids. I thought the regular one would be too difficult for my 2nd grader so I got him the Junior and gave the regular one to my 5th grader. The only thing we have a problem with is that the Junior workbook has a bunch of coloring pages that my boy doesn't really care for. But then his sister would have liked those at his age so it may just be the preference of my boy. He wants more of the crossword puzzles like what regular notebook has but easier for him. I copied one out of her notebook and he found it too difficult. He just isn't a coloring page kind of kid. He does like and all the labeling and writing pages as well as the minibooks that you get to put together and glue in. Overall the book is great for our needs and I know I wouldn't have taken the time to put together such great pages to go along with our study if they weren't already there for us. So I think the notebook is a great addition to the program! I hope they have notebooks for all the series.

Awesome! Love it already!
I can't wait to start using this curriculum! Just got it in the mail for my 2nd grader and I absolutely love the layout of the notebooks. They go right along with the text book. With the space provided for diagrams, notes, etc.. the children can be as detailed or vague as needed. Also purchased the regular notebook for my 6tgh grader and it's perfect! Goes right along with the text, and has more note taking and activities than little brothers, but they sync really well.

This is a very helpful notebook
I used Apologia's Botany book, last year with a co-op group. We used our own note books , and though we still learned alot, it required alot more work. When I planned my curriculum for this school year, I decided I would use the company's notebook. I am so happy I did too, it's such a time saver. This book is beautifully made & has everything I need for my youngest child to go through the year. I don't have to pre-make anything either, which is another plus. Thank you for such a wonderful product, it's such a blessing.

Kids love it
My 6 and 8 year old love. it. There are so many fun things to do...we actually have been doing all of them since my kids like it but I know some might not like to do as much cutting and writing.

Bit pricey, can be confusing- needs extra planning- but it goes well with the Textbook!
I do really like this notebook- it's all set up to go along with the Anatomy and Physiology book. It has lists of things to get ahead of time for the "extra" things you can do, build or create- and as far as the majority of the lessons go- you'll have to go by the lesson plan to make sure you're doing things on time and don't miss anything. Some of it leaves some guessing- but if you read through (which is something I didn't do the first time) you'll understand how it all goes together. It could use some improvement, but is nice to have to go along with the actual textbook. I do think it's a bit more than I would have liked to pay for it- but it is nice to have.
