Well I had to worry when I read the description on the bag that this lamp came in. It said that it was a heating lamp for a lizard and warned that you must use the correct bulb with it! I quickly went back to Amazon to check my order and I definitely ordered a reading lamp, and despite the packaging, it is what I received. It seems that it can be used for a variety of things including for lizards depending on what bulb you buy. I think the bag's label should have listed the other uses too. There could be no confusion that you have bought the wrong lamp then.It doesn't come with a bulb so I couldn't use it immediately. Once I bought one I was good to go. Screwing it in was a bit of a worry because it sounded like there was something inside the fitting that was broken. Also when the bulb was in place it was leaning against the side of the shade. I pushed it straight and it stayed in position. It felt broken and I worried about flicking the switch on. Happily it came on and no electric shocks or blown fuses occurred so it's all good.The lamp has a nice tightly sprung clip that securely fixes onto my headboard. It plugs in to a normal socket, its not a USB powered lamp which I like, and the length of the cable is perfect. It has a bullet switch which is so much easier to use than trying to find a switch on the lamp itself.I think the price of this lamp is reasonable especially as it can be used for multiple things depending on what bulb you put in it.

Wrong instructions in the box, instructions are for a lizard lamp. Anyway, you do get the reading clamping light as per main product description. The key parts are in metal, main spot light body, rotating and tilting mechanism and the spring within the clamp, all metal which is good. Nice finish on the main mode of the lamp, it also has air vents on both sides. UK Plug. Rubber protection on the inside of the clamp so it will not scratch your furniture. The clamp feels strong.The reason why I stopped at 4 stars is because:- the switch is light plastic- the clamp body is plastic and does not feel as strong as the metal parts- you can tilt the light up until it touches the clamp body, the rotation is not fully 360, maybe 340 then in stops.Overall it does the job fine and should work for the intended use.

One of the screws in the bulb holder was not installed and was in the bag, the bulb holder was shifted out of place and the central connection was bent.The clip mount was also missing a screw. Again this was in the bag but the thread was stripped from the hole so couldn't be attached.The screws don't have a nut, just the few threads on the metal of the body.Design is cheap and cuts corners and the build quality is non existent.And now I've got to drive to a Morrisons because the closest Asda doesn't do the returns so this will actually cost me a little money to find out that this isn't worth anything.Whoop-dee-f***fing-doo

Sent it back, wouldn't clamp on to the round tube of the bed frame, the material used for the clamp jaws was not tacky enough.
