Cost-Effective Alternative To Having Automatic Blinds Installed
I ordered 3 of these devices (with the battery attachments) for my bedroom so I could have all three of my shades open automatically (via the RYSE SmartBridge) around 8AM. Overall they get the job done and I am happy with my purchase, however I’d like to delve into more detail covering my personal PROS & CONS.Let’s start with the PROS — 1) These devices are significantly cheaper than hiring an automatic blind company to come in and install them (I was quoted almost 20K USD to have 18 installed in my 2 BDRM/2 BTH place that is just over 2000 sqft. 2) They immediately elevate your dwelling and make you feel ‘fancy’ because you no longer need to manually open your shades yourself. 3) Customer support for setup is excellent — very responsive + they can provide you with step by step guides, videos, and/or live chat to make sure you get them installed correctly.Moving on to the CONS — 1) Setup is not as easy as it looks. I highly recommend doing this with a friend present even after watching the setup tutorial. Setting these up the right way the first time is going to save you a lot of time, energy, and frustration. Everyone’s setup will not be the same as installation depends on where the device is being installed + what type of material they are being installed on. More or less setup is not “one size fits all.” 2) If your shades are not the exact same size/length + weight, the RYSE Smart Shades will not open in unison unless you program them to run at different speeds — heavier shades will open more slowly in comparison to lighter/smaller shades, so you will have to manually set the speed of each device until they are moving up in unison. 3) If you do not have a specific type of metal ball & chain style cords, these devices simply will not work — installing them on the wrong type of chain will not only snap your chain, but also potentially damage the actual RYSE device. In conclusion, these are an excellent cost-effective option to conventional automatic blind-opening alternatives, however they’re limited to the type of shades + type of chain you have. Furthermore, if all your shades are not the same size and weight, you will have to adjust the speed of each shade manually at different speeds — this may not be an issue for most people, however it is important to note. If you want to have your shades free of wires/needing to be plugged in, you will need to purchase the battery pack for each device. If you want all of your shades to be grouped together + Alexa-compatible, you will need to (additionally) purchase the SmartBridge. All in all, if you want automatic smart shades and are willing to make the initial investment, these might be an excellent choice for you.

Stay away
This product is complete garbage. I bought it against the advice of many other reviewers and wasted my money on this pile of junk. It just doesn’t work.

Works AMAZING once you have it on right!
My video explains it better, but I am not a handy person and decided to install this myself, thinking I knew what I was doing...The installation is actually SO EASY if you understand how big holes need to be and how to use an anchor in the wall! This taught me how to do that (the hard way, but gotta learn somehow lol). Make sure your battery is fully charged and then just push it into the RYSE device. The extra bracket is not necessary if you have a wall like mine. Once it's screwed in then you download the app, pair it with the device (use the PAIR option on the top of the device). Then you set your upper & lower positions (use the SET option on top of the device). That's literally ALL!You can also set routines - I currently have mine set to open at the same time as the sunrise, you just set a routine in the app! This has been my "alarm clock" the past couple of weeks! I didn't get the extra accessory that allows you to pair it with Alexa, but I probably will end up getting that since all of my lights are already integrated with Alexa.Overall, they're a huge money saver instead of buying all new automated window shades! I'm in a rental and these are the shades it came with, so it's nice to have this device to automate these ones instead of getting all new ones and installing them, then finding a place for the current ones until I move out. Definitely the best option out there and already ordered more for some other windows in my home!

Well calibrated, good hardware. Bad software
Setup is finicky. Pairing and software updates fail a few times before they succeed. Bought two and they both show up in BT pairing as RZSS, so you can’t tell which one you’re pairing with. The app kind of sucks? It’s slow and laggy. Why can’t I make a group without a hub? There is no reasonable technical explanation for this, the app should be able to do it.The motor works well though! Reliable, preserves calibration
