Kills moss in lawns
An excellent product which when applied by means of a watering can kills moss almost instantly. Highly recommended

Probably the most effective treatment for moss in lawns available.
Living in Wales, with its high rainfall and acid soil, moss is a persistent problem, spoiling the appearance of the garden. Moss gets everywhere, on paths, in flower borders, on walls and buildings, and especially in lawns. Up until I heard of Iron Sulphate, I have been raking the moss out, three times a year, and trying to compost the raked material, without much success. Within a few months the moss would reappear. If you do nothing, moss will colonize the whole lawn, choking the grass to semi-extinction.Composting moss rakings is quite difficult... It doesn't want to die and takes at least a year or two to break down. Even after a year some of it, withered and brown, will survive and start into growth again if you use it as a mulch on your flower beds. To compost moss satisfactorily, it has to be stored in a compost bin that excludes utterly any trace of light. Surprisingly it can survive in very low light levels, such as in semi-transparent fertilizer plastic bags, or a compost bin with ventilation holes in the sides.Feeling desperate, I listened to Gardeners Question time and good old Monty Don. They all claimed there was no effective chemical treatment, and instead all they could suggest was 'Lawn Sand' and more raking out, especially with a scarifier etc. Be assured, such advice is useless... it does not work. And then, miracle of miracles... I heard of Iron Sulphate, which is a fairly harmless chemical, almost natural, and which controls the moss, leaving the grass unharmed. I bought some, tried it diluted in water to the recommended dilution rate... applied it to the lawn with an old knapsack sprayer I had in the shed.... and the very next day one could see it working. The moss turned black within two to three days, gave up the ghost, and was easily raked out for cosmetic purposes, although you could leave it in situ to wither away, if so desired.I had looked on Amazon for a cheap supplier and found this company to be the best with free delivery, virtually the next day, without surcharge. The blue-green Iron Sulphate crystals are very economical and a little goes a long way. One bag is sufficient for many treatments, if necessary, year after year. It is one of the best products I have ever bought for the garden. I only wish I had known of Iron Sulphate years ago.Wonder of wonders... all that useless raking-out work will be no more. Life in the garden has become much more pleasant and harmonious. Not that I have anything personally or philosophically against moss. Under a magnifying glass it looks quite beautiful. In a vivarium it looks splendid. Pity it is a colonizer which wants to take over the whole garden, and eventually, I would imagine, the whole world.Farewell, my lovely... parting is such sweet sorrow.

Easy to apply and kills moss
I routinely used a combined moss and weed killer for years on our lawn, applied twice a year and then scarified.Recently I have become concerned about some of the possible side effects of the weed killer and therefore decided to treat our lawn with individual products. It is more time consuming, however, I removed weeds manually - not as difficult as you might think once you have them under control, fertilise the lawn using a liquid feed and for the moss, I am using this product. I am achieving the same result as the combination product, but I am pleased that I am not exposing myself to the toxic weed killer which I could smell and even taste previously.Application of this product is simple. You add it to water to the prescribed dose and then apply. Our lawn is huge, 800 Sqm and on that basis I found it impractical to use. I therefore decided to calculate the amount required and over a number of days in the early autumn, applied the product via one of the dispensers which are provided for granular fertiliser. It is very much a trial and error process and the product is dispensed in a greater deiluted ratio than recommended. Allowing for that I simply ensured that I made the necessary quantity of “passes” over a given area to dispense the right amount. The result, 14 days later, the ,oss was black and I removed it with a scarifier. It works, a simple product, easy to apply and cheaper than the combination product.

Great product for moss killing and lawn revitalisation.
Great as a moss killer as a stronger solution and as a revitaliser if used as a week solution.Instructions would be good for its use but these can be found on the internet. Iron sulphate can stain paths, clothes and hands so use rubber gloves , a watering can with a sprinkler and keep off paths and clothes. It can also add a rusty/ rustic look to concrete planters etc but keep off plants unless advised. I believe this can be used as an evergreen (leylandi) food but double check on line .Always check safety and use recommendations on line. Keep all chemicals off skin, avoid contact, wear safety glasses.and avoid spray.
