Great looking. Enjoyable to build.
Very nice kit with good color instructions and nicely colored plastic pieces. The little reactor can be turned on and has a nice red glow.As a former sub sailor I could point out some technical issues but this is not meant to be super accurate. It has the basic compartments to give a good idea of a ballistic sub with torpedos. I have not completed the build at the time of my review, but so far, no issues. Glad I bought this.

Don't be thrown off by a brand you may not have heard of.. This was a fun build.
I have to admit that I was a little skeptical of a brand that i have not previously heard of, but I really liked the idea of building a submarine. This model did not disappoint. I don't think I would hesitate to buy another JMBricklayer model after my experience with this one. I think I was missing one piece, but it was a very common color and size, and had plenty of extra pieces from other kits that I have put together. This was challenging, and I did find myself going back looking at prior steps to see if I had misplaced a piece somewhere, and I think I found that I had quite a few times. The instructions are more dense that the name brand (not sure if I can say the name here) but if you take you time, and think about what you are doing, you shouldn't have any problems.Overall a great build. I would estimate that it took me about 18-20 hours over the course of a month. I was doing other things while building the sub, so I could probably have completed it a little quicker if I was only working on it.I would post a picture, but it would just look like every one else's. I didn't really have a problem with blocks sticking together. The first get levels may be a bit challenging because you end up with something that's almost 24" long and it's like 3 to 4 layers thick and very "flexible". It may have to build the base stands first (the brownish-red pieces) to support the lower layers when starting out, because once you add the tail, near the beginning, it does cause some flexing while the model is at rest.Key takeaways: take your time and don't be in a hurry. Have fun.

Fun build. No missing pieces.
I really enjoyed this build. Instructions were easy to follow and no missing pieces. I am definitely going to purchase more from this company.

Well worth the price for the build quality and time to put it together. A Navy vet must have.
My family are huge fans of Lego set, but didn't have anything like this submarine. I bought as a Christmas gift for my navy son. I read the reviews and still hesitant due to not being a Lego branded set and the price. Once we started putting it together, the quality of pieces, instructions and overall complexity was great. I've had great Lego sets and horrible sets. We built Mega blocks, no named blocks and now this. This is by far one of our favorites. The attention to detail made this feel like the price was worth it, and will be buying another one again when a high quality build is wanted.

Ugh
This is built more like a model than a Lego set. Even for adults this kit is hard to put together and the pieces fall apart.I recommend gluing the pieces together as you go because it does not have the stability to keep things in place as you build other sections. We almost threw the whole thing away. Our fingers were so sore and we were all very frustrated by the end of this build.

Fun to build, but needs lots of glue
Looks good on display, however needs a lot of glue to assemble interior parts and decks.

Just as good as Legos, very good looking model
This is a very good product. My eight year old made it with some oversight from his dad and older siblings, but it is a very impressive model. If you are nervous about how it compares to Legos, don't be - it is very good.

Missing Pieces
Not sure I am ready to review. I am about half way through the build and have run into problems. I have found that many of the parts I need cannot be found. I have contacted JM Bricklayer for the missing parts but have not heard from them. I will give them some more time but if I do not hear from them, I will request a refund.I have read other reviews and agree that it is a good model (as far as I have gotten). Detail is good when compared to other Lego type models but yes, some parts don't want to fit. and the application of glue periodically helps.
