Q: Should this control unit be protected from the sun?

My unit is housed in pool house to protect it from winter snowfall when pool is closed for season (I live in Canada). My suggestion would be to contact circupool. Good customer service

Q: We currently use Aquarite with t15 cell. The cell blocks up stopping our vacuum side cleaner. Is circupool less likely to do this?

I have never experienced an issue with my CORE 5 salt chlorinator of stopping flow in any significant way to my pool. I use a Dolphin Sigma unit to clean my pool (which I absolutely love) and have never had any issues with my Cicupool product slowing down flow. The only issue I had was the unit going down on me after 1 year and the company replaced (after some minor haggling). Flow is always good through this system. I do get no-flow warning lights that come on during use, but flow is not obstructed to the pool, it is the flow arm on the chlorinator acting up. I run my pool 24/7/365 and really have little to complain about with the Circupool product. It's been a very good purchase for me! Hopefully this helps!

Q: Has anyone used this product to replace an Intellichor system?

I'm certain someone has used the Core35 to replace every other brand out there, including the Intellichlor.

Can this be installed vertically? I have no room available on the main line horizontally and was hoping not to install additional pvc.
