R4238 Smart Irrigation controller No Leaks
Have existing Hozelock controller and plagued with leaks. So bought this but fitted and tested and no leaks hurrah. Setup was fine but had connection problems when changed name so now reset and left at original default name. As I use the app rather than Alexa so am not bothered too much about this. No separate hub involved so a bit of bonus as well.So time will tell how this works in long term

Seems to do a great job at the moment
I wanted one to turn on a sprinkler for when we go away. There were a few products available, but some seemed to be EU based (with no free returns). I picked this one as it integrates with Tuya smart life app and connects with alexa. I was a bit dubious that all the reviews seemed in exchange for a free product, but they were well written and genuine at least, which is I suppose better than fake reviews. It arrived with batteries and I put them in and soon as I opened the Tuya app up it popped. I just needed to put my WiFi password in and hold down the big green button for a few seconds so it flashed red. All connected. Job done very quickly. You can override it with the green button, and by using the app, and by saying (alexa, turn on {name}) much like my smart plugs. Water pressure is fine too. The app also tells you if anyone has watered too.So, it did take me 4 goes to get it to attach and not leak with the tap turned on. And with the angle of the tap, all the excess water runs down the battery compartment. It’s about 3m’s away from the router and says low signal and suggests moving the device. Being a tap connected to the wall that is impossible. But to be fair, it goes through one internal wall and one solid brick external, much like two ring cameras who have a similar issue. So right now, it does everything I want (turns water on to my hosepipe on a schedule, which I can adjust from abroad, skips it if it rains, etc) so gets a 5 stars from me. Even if I don’t get another summer out of it, that won’t change my score.

When it works it is good but does not last
This is a good item while it works, but it started leaking after 6 months and WOOX do not respond to emails to be able to return it so it is now just a waste of money and I have had to go back to manual watering. The Cycle&Soak function is good for hanging baskets but is not explained in the manual.

NOt very bad, but I would not recommend
The good is that it does what it says - you can program it to start the water via an app and you can get some updates over wireless***Also you don't need any WiFi HUB. This is good I guess. It helps when you want to change the schedule and you are not on site.**The bad is that is with AA batteries and that it eats a lot of them . One battery set will not last the summer, never mind a full year. Those from Gardena , without Bluetooth and WIFI do last that long. It's dificult to connect it to WIfi with the app, sometimes the steps need to be redone. It can only connect to 2.4Ghz Wifi and it needs good coverage of the WiFi.Or else, it will do what's scheduled to do , but you won't get updates.Worst aspect is the battery life.

Sadly this just doesn’t work for me
The Woox Upgrade WIFI Water Timer fell short of expectations in practical use.Despite persistent efforts throughout the summer, I struggled to get the real-time on/off feature and the local weather feature to work consistently. Rainy days didn't deter the timer, causing a frustrating experience. The app, especially when used for direct on/off control features, proved glitchy. Even with a strong Wi-Fi signal, including a booster, the functionality remained unreliable. I could stream movies right next to the switch, but operating it was a different story, instead I used the manual button which defeats the purpose of automation.I have to add that when it works, it works amazingly well. Being able to select duration and collecting data of historic use is very impressive and with a bit more investment it could be market competitive. The major drawback was the abysmal battery life. Even with premium batteries, I found myself changing them every three weeks. The process of changing batteries also meant dealing with re-syncing the device to the network, adding an extra layer of inconvenience. Use for me was 5 min most days so this has the switch changing position 2 times a day, I can only assume that the standby mode is a parasitic drain. While the Woox Upgrade WIFI Water Timer seemed promising on paper, the practical experience revealed several flaws. Despite taking it out of storage with my gardening items, the issues persisted, leading me to the decision to return it. An unfortunate case of a market-leading concept falling short in execution. Solar/hydro powered recharging, increased network functionality, better app integration are all needed before I could rely on this device to manage my irrigation needs without concern 🌧️⏰🔄

TOP! Sempre connesso, batteria eterna!
Funziona perfettamente.
