No Support
When I go the product, it did not work properly. After a few hours of trying to see where the problem was, I found the volume control switch would only make proper contact when the button was held, or taped down. As long as it was held down, the unit operated properly. I have contacted Digital Loggers twice by email asking if there was another solution or fix to the problem - I have yet to hear back. I also told Amazon about the problem and have not heard back. If you need support for this product, it has been my experience you are not going to get it.

Just what I've been looking for
I've been looking for a way to record phone calls -- for interviews and for other projects. I had an old Radio Shack adapter, but it had a horrible hum that drowned out the audio. Solutions for under $20 are not worth the price -- you get what you pay for.I narrowed down my choice to the JK Audio QT Quicktap and this Digital Loggers adapter. I decided to go with the Digital Loggers because it can plug in-line or into the headset; Quicktap only says it works via the headset. Digital Loggers also has a USB version of this device, but they said they only support Windows. The Mic version is platform independent. (I'm using it with a Linux system. It also works well with Mac.)In the box is the adapter, some cables, and a 3" mini-CD with software. I haven't tried the software since none of my computers support mini 3" disks.I have the tap between the wall and the phone. The Mic jack is a nice, long cable and goes right into my computer's Mic-In. Recording is painless. There is an 8kHz hum. It is extremely narrow band. However, recorded voice over the telephone is at 6kHz max, so a low-pass filter at 7kHz completely removes the hum. The other option (which I am currently using) is to record at a lower sampling rate. 16,000 samples per second omits all of the hum and has a crisp, clear recording. (At a 16kHz sample rate, the spectrograph shows a very narrow-band 4.1kHz hum, but my ear doesn't hear it.)It is very easy to hear both sides of the conversation. The volume slider it good for boosting the mic input audio signal. The one thing to watch out for: I sometimes get "quiet callers" -- you know, those people who sound like they are whispering and even if you crank up the volume on your headset all the way, they are still very quiet... If they are quiet on the phone, then they will be quiet on the microphone jack. There are other phone taps that permit per-side volume adjustments, but this device doesn't do that.

Pain to setup
Works but not super user friendly.

Simply Amazing
Happy with my recent purchase, I participate in plenty of technical conference call where attention to details are crucial and with this recorder it allows me to instant replay while recording and include subject/notes of each call. This recording device is computer/software base and doesn't allow you to hook it up to an actual recorder however it makes up with features that can't be found on the market, there even a function where you can you send in your recording and have it transcribe for you. The sound quality is clear and there is a slider on the device that allows you to adjust the record volume to amplify/filter out the white noise for clearer quality. Installation of the device couldn't be easier; just hook the device to your computer, install the software, and set the default mic input to "inline" under the windows sound settings and you're set. I would definitely recommend this product for someone that doesn't mind using a software base recorder.

Ecellent performance Update (Not so good.)
After failing to get a previous purchase (several years ago) of this recorder to function, I contacted Tech Support. I was not aware that company had sent me a new recorder until after Amazon order arrived.Very simple to operate. Recordings are very high quality (for talk)..AU format is very similar to MP3 and can be emailed if necessary.I suggest you shop for the seller Digital Loggers. Best price available. I paid $40.Very good valueHave been using both recorders (bought one as a gift) for about 1 month. Having a problem.emailed tech support with samples of recording problem last week. Zero response. Very unexpected.Problem is unequal sound on each side of recording. Is true for both recorders.Very disappointed in support. Looking for a better product.

Does the job!
I use this at work to record sales presentations. I plugged it into a phone jack near my computer (separate from my phones). It took a little effort to adjust the two volumes so that it would recognize a call and record it. I set it for vox so that I don't have to remember to switch it on. It records all my calls to my computer's hard drive. I can play them back and make notes in the included software so that I can find the call later. It also reads caller ID. Sound quality is very good. I had one question about caller ID. Called customer support and got an answer immediately. All in all it's a very good tool.
