CasioG-Shock X-Large GA100

Excellent product. I really love it.

I got a G-Shock because everyone says you need at least one in your collection and I loved the black and red design of this, didn’t need anything more advanced and figured if didn’t like it I could always exchange it for something else.It’s pretty damn fantastic, full of features and fits nicely.There are however a few issues that I have come across: first and foremost is that the back light is next to useless. It comes from a light at the bottom of the watch and so mainly only illuminates the lower portion - the hour hand is darker and much harder to see against background and so in the dark, all I can see is the minute hand. Secondly, the “signal” or hourly beep is a tad on the weak side and not at all like the strong beep beeps of much cheaper Casio watches. The final thing is that I am not entirely sure what the “speed dial” is for and find that it rather just clutters up the background - on this note, when the minute or hour hands pass the lower side of the screen (from about 4pm to 8pm) the hands get in the way of the small displays with the date and seconds making it harder to see them.That aside, it’s a chunky but very nice watch that feels well built and for the most part easy to read and use.

At the time I reviewed this item. The item did not arrive for some time. The product did not state it was coming from New York and the postage was very expensive as you can imagine, although the email address was uk. I am also not convinced that the watch is the real thing. I did contact the seller who tried to convince me and he credited my credit card for the postage. Please be careful purchasing watches online as there are loads of counterfeit and they are hard to spot the difference.

The watch has several design flaws and only scrapes a 3 star for this:Pros:-Visually attractive watch and looks stylish and well proportioned on wrist-Digital display is 'ok'-Feature set isCons-The digital display has moderately poor viewing angles and loses contrast easily-The red hour hand is difficult to see when using the analogue display for timekeeping, at night it is even harder because it is red and does not contrast with the dial significantly enough (it should be white like the minute hand).-the lume does NOT affect the hands, so it is pointless as only the dial indices have the lume function.-the LED light is very poor, it does not significantly light up the analogue dial and does not in any fashion light up the digital dial.-ergonomically a very confused watch that could better with some essential tweaks!
