Q: Has anyone got the tilt recline to work?

Yes, no problem at all. If you’ve assembled correctly the tilt/height adjustment lever should be on the right-hand side as you’re sitting on it. Just pull the lever outwards (only about 15mm adjustment on my chair) and the chair freely tilts backwards when you press/lean against the back. I tend to leave my handle in the ‘out’ position all the time, so I’m free to tilt "at will’! But occasionally the handle will have slipped into the locked position (possibly from me moving it around) but I just pull out again to unlock. I’m really impressed with this chair, but the only thing I did change (even before fitting the provided wheels) was to double rubber replacement wheels (I move about on a laminate flooring) and it’s been superb (quiet and no marking), the wheels that come with it are terrible-the very noisy and scratchy plastic ones-get double rubber ones….you won’t regret it!

Q: Backrest tilt does not work - what may be the problem? Might I have made a mistake with the assembly? Or is it more likely a defect with the chair?

Ours doesn't have an adjustable tilt setting for reclining the back like some office chairs do. More that it's not rigidly set and therefore has a degree of play in it, allowing it to move about as you do. When I had a back problem,this was the only chair in the house I could get comfortable in, hence I pretty much lived in it for a couple of days, working on a task that caused a degree of movement (as opposed to staring at a screen). The ability to move made it very therapeutic.
