CasioCasio fx-991CW Advanced Scientific Calculator (UK Version)

Bought it for my son for his high-school work as recommended by his teacher, and it does everything he needs.

It's got a good design, good feel and very versatile and functional. It's good quality, and very good to use in school. The display is quite good, only problem is sometimes it could be brighter. The buttons have a good feel.

Bought this calculator for A-Levels since Casio don't make the good old 991-EX anymore. I was used to the older Casio scientific calculator layout, but it wasn't too bad to adapt to this one.While the more compact and simplistic layout does have its benefits, it does however make certain tasks a little bit more tedious. For instance, the fraction to decimalised format required a few more button presses, you can't use the = button to save values as variables anymore, and inputting factorial or Absolute value is a bit clanky (no more tic tac toe). All in all though, I don't really mind the new layout unlike some other people, though it does have its cons, and it doesn't have the same nostalgic feel.I personally like the design and look of the calculator, as it has a slimmer, lower profile and its very lightweight. I do miss the satisfying sliding click of the older models cases; it does feel abit wrong bending the case to take out the calculator at first. However, the case mechanism still does work after 2 years of extensive use.

Bought this for use on site visits, really good calculator, however I find it a bit odd to use as I've been using the same graphic calculator for the last 16 years (also a casio). they have updated some of the features so if you're replacing an older calculator you might have to search around a bit for some of the functions (they're all still there along with new ones!)

My abacus broke. I could only count to ten without taking my socks off.Great for GCSE Maths (and for writing 5318008 upside down).

Can't say I ever really leave reviews, but the fact I've just pulled this out of the pocket of a pair of school trousers that have been through a 2hr wash cycle and 2hr Tumble dry and it still works!! Impressive stuff
