This is a life changing book that I can't recommend highly enough
This is a life changing book that I can't recommend highly enough. From the title, I assumed that it would only be relevant if I had suffered some kind of childhood abuse - thankfully I was lucky enough to have a pretty idyllic childhood so at first I didn't buy it. However after looking through somebody else's copy I realised that it was for me after all, and bought my own. I now see that we all have an inner child that has experienced many different things over the years: large and small experiences that need to be processed with kindness and compassion. The mindfulness practices described here have been literally transformative and I hope that they will bring many other people healing and transformation too.

This book was helpful from minute one. I've only had it for a week or so but since I started reading it I began relating to the child in me or myself as a child and it has helped immensely. For example I've been able to realise that a deep feeling of loneliness | normally carry with me wasn't so much something I was experiencing now but something that dated back years. And acknowledging that helped me also realise that I was no longer as lonely as I used to be as a child. I would deeply recommend it to anyone who like me often feels he or she is the only person with issues or in pain while everyone seems so self confident and cheery.

Great book
As always Thich Nhat Hanh's simple, clear, kind wisdom is supportive, inspiring and helpful. His depth of understanding of Buddhist teachings is reflected on and he brings to this a depth of insight and understanding of early wounding and trauma in a way that is integrating and healing.

What a beautiful book to read.
At a really difficult time in my life, this book gave me exactly what I needed. A beautiful writing style that ultimately lets you know it's okay to suffer and have suffered & that there is a positive way out.Would recommend to anyone!

Thich Nhat Hahn at his best on the inner child
A wonderful book, superbly written with expert buddhist eyes, but including snippets from actual patients reconnecting with their inner child - contains mindfulness metta / loving kindness meditations to follow as a means to welcome the inner child and come to be with it's inherited traumas from parents and grandparents.

Ok
A bit waffly, read about 50 pages into it and it seems to have gone nowhere, got bored and haven't really picked it up sinceI suspect there are better books to look at if you really want to look at doing inner child work
