Mooer Pitchbox Pitch Shifter Harmonizer Pedal MPS1

Nicely made, and not too noisy in operation, this pedal is surprisingly complex in terms of the sounds on offer - everything from simple doubling of the sound to wacky discordant sci-fi tones. In between, effective chorus, harmony and octave, and much more. Takes some time to work it out and you’ll either love it or hate it.

tone is good with effects a bit difficult to master

It’s okay on a pitch maybe 1 down or 1 up but if you alter it anymore then that the pitch starts to sound slightly out of tune.

Don't really use anything but the detune effect for the EVH 90s sound. It's great for that on a budget.

Let’s face it, you are searching for the authentic Eddie van Halen sound, watched YouTube and thought this was it? Well, -2 and detune is my advice it seems to help get that rough discordant edge without sounding like a tone deaf dog howling. Haven’t used the other settings yet as this is the most interesting and useful thing about the pedal. YouTube did a great job ramping the price and making the pedal hard to find but this was a warehouse deal and I wouldn’t have paid more for it. Note: pedals seem to exaggerate dodgy connections so you might want to clean that amp or clean the electrical switches with an appropriate cleaner. It also didn’t come with a power supply so shop around for a decent 9v lead. Finally it doesn’t make you as good as evh but that’s a work in progress
