Captivates and Enchants
On screen and in real life (The Charlie Rose Show PBS interview) Adele Exarchopoulos captivates and enchants. In "Blue is the Warmest Color", for over three hours we have a close-up view of "Adele's" fictional life, and yet the audience's awareness of the passage of time seems to disappear. Coming to the final scene of the movie I found myself hanging there, wishing the story would continue. In other interviews, Adele has said that people identify with her character because it reminds them of their first love. But really, the character "Adele" is quite unique. She's hyper-passionate and she craves passion. She can not live without intense love and without love she suffers immeasurably. All of her emotions are there for us revealed directly before our eyes to absorb and embrace. And yet all this display, both grief and joy, gives us nothing but succour, and we find it fascinating. Director Abdellatif Kechiche sets the movie up as a kind of non-stop reality show, the performances seems so real and spontaneous. Many scenes were non-scripted. But at the same time he has created a work of great beauty because it is ultimately Kechiche's own vision of reality. The movie follow's Adele's life over a six or seven year period. The only thing to watch out for is that the story suddenly jumps ahead in time at various points (i.e. It skips over her moving in with Emma and her three year's study to become a teacher). This change of pace was confusing the first time I watched.

Changing to English subtitles
I really liked the seller (Discount) working through the issue of how to engage the English subtitles. Once you go to 'options' go to 'subtitles' and turn English 'on'. (Make certain the 'on' is underlined.) Then go to the right and click on the 'X' At first, it would appear to negate your change, but that is not the case. Instead, it will save the English subtitles and allow one to see the movie with the subtitles (it will start from the beginning again).

Great acting by two young actresses
All the sexuality and nudity aside, this is a film about love, deep love. It is not a film for the LGBT community only. The two actresses threw away their inhibition and put everything into some of the most emotional scenes I have seen on the big screen. It is 3-hours long, but the minutes flew by real quick. Recommended.
