Q: Can this be split where the black nut is? I want to use my existing threads as I cannot get underneath the toilet to remove them.

Yes it can, I have done the same too in the past, it has a clip that pulls down I seem to remember so you don’t have to screw it off and on again as no room to turn inside the toilet

Yes. Hopefully there is an in-line valve to isolate the water supply to the cistern, but if not then the water needs to be turned off otherwise you will have a flood when you disconnect the pipe from the bottom of this inlet valve assembly.

There is not a filter the only thing that goes wrong with these is the diaphragm which is easy to change the diaphragm splits and gives the impression that there is a blockage is slow fill
