Brilliant collection of early Pentagram. Not just for fans of doom, but for all fans of great 70s rock.

I totally disagree with the other reviewer who gave only two stars - this is a brilliant compilation of Pentagram's seventies recordings, including classics such as "Starlady" and "Be Forewarned". That they happened to co-exist with Black Sabbath doesn't mean that they were Sabbath wannabes - they've got their own thing going, and this album is definitely a must-buy for those who like their doom old school.

There's a couple of shaky moments on this but there is some absolute gold too, hence the 4 stars. But "Forever my Queen" is worth 6 stars on its own. one of the greatest tracks ever committed to tape! (alongside "Magic Potion" by the Open Mind)I think detractors of this album probably come from a more metal oriented background, preferring the bigger, more dense sound of Sabbath (who I love BTW). These early Pentagram tracks are more like a dark, bluesy psych sort of vibe. So if your taste in music is a bit more eclectic then you will probably appreciate what's on offer here.BTW - if you do like this then check out Swedish bands Witchcraft & Graveyard, both heavily influenced by this album.

Sorry, but I can't understand the fuss about this band in the doom scene. This just sounds like a Sabbath wannabe band that never got anywhere near to being as good as their idols. So they were around at the same time as Sabbath - so what?Maybe the later stuff is a bit more interesting, but frankly this album put me off checking it out. It's not a totally crap album, there are a few half-decent tunes, but don't waste your money on it."Living In A Ram's Head" indeed!!
