What is the diffrence between the english/german and the english/chinese versions of the game
Ok let's split the difference. is this the chinese or german version?
Really disappointed that english / chinese images are used for this game and yet i’ve just opened the game to discover english / german.
Seems really unclear from the reviews and questions. if i order from here will i receive german and english only?

Easy to learn and scales up with more players
It’s an easy to learn game, the more players you have the more roles you can unlock. But even with the minimum players it’s still very fun and you can easily play it over and over.

Perfect but its the german/english version
I knew that it was german/english version because I checked the reviews before buying it... However I dont have any problem with that version because it does not effect the gameplay its an amazing game!

Great family game
Great game. Once you get into it eveyone joins in. Good for families and friends. A grown up Cluedo.

English and German text
Can't fault the game, we played for more than 4 hours and it had everyone talking and laughingI am disappointed it is English/German edition. The pictures are misleading, there's no Chinese text on the materials. That's a shame as you lose some of the vibe, plus we often got tripped up over reading the German text instead of the English (as in, it can take a second to parse which word to read and which to ignore as they are both Roman alphabet), and just somewhat a shame as we were playing with people from HK who would've got a kick out of actual Chinese script. I'm next going to play with a group who largely speak English as a second language and so again the German being present could be a stumbling block, as if you get a word you are unfamiliar with, it can take even more time to parse which is the English and which is the German. This is something you'd probably get used to over many play sessions. Also we did get a kick out of reading some German translations.Still does the job, still fun and playable, but just something to be aware of. I believe the Amazon listing does note it is English/German but I really need to stress how prominent the German is: it replaces all Chinese script and is the same font size as the English. If that's a dealbreaker you may wish to import instead.

The easiest way to explain this game to other gamers is that it's like Avalon crossed with Mysterium, which works pretty well. On the easiest setting there's not too much pressure on the murderer, especially since it can be hard to figure out clues even without anyone misdirecting intentionally, and even with more role cards thrown in the time limits make for a game that doesn't drag with discussion like Avalon can.I found it easy to understand the rules and don't think it'd be hard to explain to new players. It's also nice to have the discussion focused on the cards and possible interpretations rather than just the players themselves - there's still deception involved but it's less combative a game than other deception games.

very expensive for what it is
It is not a bad game, but it could have been packaged in much smaller box that would be easier to carry and be a lot cheaper for what it is.

Compared to the Resistance.....
As a big fan of social deduction games, I was disappointed with Deception. The game can feel too unstructured and this makes it very group-dependent. The presentation phase is vague and gameplay mechanics such as the revelatory role of the forensic scientist and guessing feel bolted on rather than part of a integrated gameplay experience. Contrast with Resistance, which feels a lot tighter and clearer in how the game proceeds.
