Far End Gear XDU Pathfinder Single Stereo-to-Mono Noise Isolating Earphone, Reinforced Cord

I would imagine that most people would want a single earpiece for wearing outside when exercising so that they are still aware of what is going on around them. My use is unusual. I wear mine whilst I am in bed. I go to bed each night, plug my earpiece into my left ear, lay on my right side and off I go to sleep, listening to the radio. I am always tuned in to Radio 4 which goes over to BBC World Service at 1:00 am. Why do you do that, I can hear many people asking. Well my wife can sometimes snore quite loudly. If I have my earpiece in, the background noise of droning conversation tend to muffle the sound of snoring. And if I do wake up, instead of getting irritated at the sound my wife is making, I often get involved with the current programme (there is some really interesting stuff on the World Service) and the next thing I know, I have fallen back asleep again. You cannot "make" yourself go to sleep, but try and stay awake in the middle of the night and listen to something and it is very hard not to fall asleep again, quite quickly. The earpiece is well made and the cable is reinforced so it should stand some robust treatment. I would guess that for those who want to listen to music, the stereo sound is converted to monaural sound. It is a well made product at a reasonable price and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a single piece head set.

Great headphone. Ideal for running and cycling, motor biking, allowing you to hear your music in stereo through one ear, while your other ear is free to listen out for traffic or other hazards. I thought it was expensive, but the build quality was fantastic. The sound I found to be very good. Have an early model of this ear bud for running long distances and keeping an ear open for traffic etc. It has been through the washing machine a few times by accident and was beginning to sound a bit quiet. This updated version is more robust (as if it needed to be) and sounds better too.

A severe head injury left me completly deaf in my right ear, but with an intrusive and sleep-disruptive tinnitus "in" it. As listening to audio books provides a distraction which usually slides into sleep, about 3 months ago I bought two these. However, a couple of days ago, my "in use" earphone stopped working, because the rubber moulding on the 'phono cord had pulled away from the body of the earbud, which caused one or more of the conductors to detach. Because I didn't want the reserve to go the same way I anchored the moulding to the earpiece with a smidgen of Araldite, so the cord is properly secure. I advise other purchasers/prospective purchasers to reach for the glue, as it's cheaper than buying a replacement.

Initially I was disappointed as one of the ear pieces was missing from the package ( which had presumably had escaped during handling) As I could not be bothered returning the item I contacted the distributers ( via Amazon) to enquire where to purchase a replacement bud. The response from the distributors was friendly and immediate, promising to replace the item the next day. Brilliant service I would certainly recommend this company for future purchases.However, although not used extensively yet, the sound quality does appear good which is important, as like many others, suffer from a hearing defect and only have partial hearing in one ear. Amazing, now I can listen to music on the go. Thank you.

Comfortable to wear, excellent sound, reasonable value. I use it for listening to the radio at night so that I don't disturb my wife - and it works admirably.

I use this for listening to audio books while cycling, and it does the job. I can hear the book, and still hear what's going on around me.UPDATE: after less than 2 months use, it's stopped working. No sound comes through. I'm getting a refund.

I use this stereo-to-mono earpiece to listen to the radio during the night without disturbing my wife. It needs to be secure and comfortable enough for me to fall asleep while wearing it. This is the second I have owned and, for some reason, has much better sound - especially the bass response. Very pleased with it.
