Been installed for a day and so far so good. It's a good replacement for the previous one that failed. The only thing letting it down are the screws. They are cheap slotted heads which are easy to mash up. I replaced them for some decent Philips heads.

The meat of it is solid brass, the screw receivers are a thick cast. I used 2 part epoxy filler to bulk these out, which is completely unnecessary in most uses.As you can see in the image I put it on a chest.I filled all the square edges away and smoothed the pointer bits down.I also took the beautiful high polish and varnish off it and sanded it and resealed it to get the look I wanted.This latch became the lock to my brass and oaken treasure for my unborn niece complete with a Britannia Oz coin.I remember the zinc cast versions on the old sash windows from years ago.Such a treat to find one in brass.Very heavy item,But incase your wondering.Yes, the box is balanced with this on it.Haha
