It worked perfectly.
The card worked perfectly as advertised. All instructions are included and very clear.I inserted the card in my dual sim phone as soon as it arrived, and when still in the UK. You have one day, I believe, of data to use in your country, just to test the sim card.Afterward, you need to just switch sim card and enable the roaming once arrived in Japan. Mine worked perfectly for 14 days (the duration of my trip).

Best and easiest SIM that I have purchased
This review is intended to not only rate this product but to help those people that are not super techy but have a need to purchase a different country data SIM.I am not a blogger, just a retired person that is now travelling more. I have an iPhone and can use it OK for my everyday use but do not know much about ‘advanced’ settings etc.I have been frustrated with the usual reviews of the various travel SIM cards because typically; 65% give 5 stars (fantastic product, I just fitted the SIM and it worked for my entire holiday) but 25% give 1 star (did not work, rubbish, I want a refund) – how can this be?Having now completed four trips to the USA, Mexico, Dubai and Japan, I know more about the ‘settings’ that are required if it doesn’t work.I only require data so I purchase ‘data only’ SIM cards. I use WhatsApp for messages and calls (it’s free and only uses a small amount of your given data). For example: I have the Flightradar24 app running for about 10 hours every day and over a two week holiday I use less than 2.0 GB. However, I always get at least a 10GB as the extra cost is minimal and it allows you to send/receive photos and videos home if required.I was attracted to this Japan Only SIM because several reviews mentioned that their email response time is very quick. Having had ‘getting started’ problems before with other network suppliers, which had resulted in hours and hours of my first day wasted waiting for replies, this was very appealing.I ordered this SIM and received it promptly as stated. It is enclosed in an envelope that details four methods of ‘set up’. The first and easiest worked for me immediately with no hassle. You are instructed to insert the SIM ‘upon your arrival in Japan’ so there is no need to activate it before departure. The two main settings to get right are clearly stated, they are:1. Data roaming. Settings MUST be set to ON in both your phone and the SIM. This is set as default within the SIM, so for me it was just my iphone.2. ‘Select local carrier as your network service’. This is what I think causes most of the 1 star reviews (and was the one that previously caused me so much wasted time). On my iPhone 12 it is located under: Settings – Mobile Data – Network Provider Services. Mine was set to AUTO so I assumed that this would pick up the best local provider, it often doesn’t. Switch Auto off and wait for how long it takes to list a number of local network providers. I recommend you email the customer support a few days before departure and ask what Network Providers they use for your region in Japan. I did this and had a reply within 20 minutes informing me that they use two, IIJ and NTT. I selected IIJ, and it worked immediately and stayed working faultlessly for the two weeks travelling to Tokyo, Sapporo, Okinawa and Osaka,.Another nice touch is that a proper spike is included for opening the SIM tray.Great product, good price, easy hassle-free usage. Hence the 5 stars. Hope this helps.

Card was invalid / expired/ out of date - zero or negative stars
If I could have given zero or negative stars I wouldThe card send was invalid (out of date - who knew that was a possibility with a SIM card?!). Turns out it was 11 months out of date - so why was this sent out - or even held in stock? This however was not apparent until I was already abroad and therefore too late to do anything about it.I bought the SIM as I was travelling alone, as a piece of mind, to have it in place before my arrival in Malaysia. The safety of being able to order reputable taxis, use google maps to know where I am etc. This safety element was completely not possible as the SIM simply didn't workIt took lots of whatsapp message over several days to get to the point that they told me the SIM was out of date (as I could only use wifi to whatapp to the company as and when I could get whatsapp, and the response time would often be several hours later when I no longer had wifi). So lots of time and effort wasted on my holiday.I was beyond frustrated and disappointed. The company has refunded me the cost via Amazon, however the cost is somewhat trivial in comparison to the reason I wanted to have a local SIM.Lesson for anyone still planning to buy this SIM for Asia, then check the date (turns out it is a validity date and not a manufacture date as one would have assumed), with enough time to return. I would however avoid due to the inconvenience - what a shame

Great value and peace of mind for China trip
First time visiting China, and wanted a data SIM as roaming charges are very expensive. Everything worked as advertised. Was able to check that the SIM worked while still in Europe, and everything worked flawlessly upon arrival in China. Including a SIM tool is also a nice touch.Would definitely buy again, and highly recommend!

Great once set up
I have a Samsung S20 FE and had a few teething problems with the SIM card. I swapped SIM cards on the plane and switched this one on when I got to Narita airport. It took a while to find signal and I had to go into Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names Inset the ‘APN’ and the ‘Name’ to vmobile.jp then I think I had to hit the three vertical dots at the top right of screen to save the settings. After this it worked and I found myself on the IIJ network. The coverage on this network was good from Hiroshima to Tokyo, even on a bullet train! I barely used the 20gb even though I was using my phone a lot every day for 10 days.
