Thank you everyone who support Colin Campbell to write this book
I would give millions stars for this book, i havent read this book but i have read translated Russian version and i bought it in Russian online store... When i start reading, i couldnt stop and read over and over page as each page are so interesting and all make sense and have references about particular study. I am Dietician, Personal Trainer and Life Coach. I read lots and lots and lots of books and as example from 300 pages only 20-30 pages would be very interesting but all didnt make sense for me in the end as one book and study will say one things and other book complitely different. Writer is right that majority or 99.9% GP's dont know nothing about food and keep prescribing tabplets, pills and moreedication. I work with GP and my collegues who always asking me to help them to lose weight and make them fit and healthy but couple of days later they motivation gone amd they back to eat crab and dont care. Dont get me wrong i do eat pizza or take aways but thats could be once or twice in two month, i do eat bisquits and milky coffee, i am not just live on salads & vegetables like some think. God blessed us with 3 children and each pregnancy i was very big, by the end of pregnancies i would be 14-14,5 stone and after birth i start my healthy routine. I admit that in pregnancy i cant stop eating but soon baby born i am back to myself. My third baby is 4 month and in third pregnancy i gain lots of weight as with previously 2 pregnancy. Notmally i am 8 stone (53kg), after birth i was 92kg and now 4 month later i am 58kg (i'm 168cm). Back to book, this book changed my life, i never thought someone can explaine to me in more details about vegan or vegeterian people, i couldnt understand people if they say i am vegeterian, i would always try to explaine to them that we r nation of meat eaters and sometimes i just stop talking as i dont want to get angry... But but but, Colin Campbell changed the way i thought about nutrition by long way and all my doubts i had before nutrition wise is cleared now and i have noticed that its no point to talk about with meat eater unless they ask in details. I have 386 client currently and everyone with different health problems or weight ploblems and out of 100 people only 3 would change they eating habits forever and otheres just like to put on and lose weight for special occasion ( never understand it but its they choice).. One thing i noticed that Colin Campbell is absolutelly right in everything and i like the way book is writen, you feel like he is sitting next to you and talk, its brilliant book, i have purchased other books of the doctors and proffesors he mention in the books (i have reasearched about them too and very impressed). I work in health and fitness almost 16 years and this book is brilliant for anyone and everyone should read it, i will buy this book as birthday presents to my clients who are willing to read it and without doubt i know it will change they life and without doubt once they start reading they will not stop till it finish.

This should be necessary reading for everyone.
I never write reviews, but I simply had to talk about this book.Where do I begin? Not only has this book helped me with my uni work, it has also helped further my knowledge on the subject. It’s informative but not in your face. It talks about some of the oldest and well known research into health in a new way with promising results. I don’t think medical research was necessarily bias back when we were being told that milk helps build strong bones - I simply think that research was focus on one or a chain of reactions within the body rather than considering all of the evidence. Research focused on Calcium building strong bones, when in fact, the body cannot absorb calcium as milk is acidic and calcium is leached from the bones to recitify this. As a result, the most bone fractures are associated with standard westernised diets that consume the most dairy. It’s scary how some of the causations for diseases are overlooked. But I get it. Pharmaceuticals have vested insterests in treating people who are sick (and, arguably keeping people sick), so if there was a rigorous system in place to prevent disease, the pharmaceutical industry would have to change their game plan. I’m vegan, and have been for 3 years now. I am not hard on myself for slipping up, but I am actively aware of the implications consuming animal foods has on human health. I discovered veganism through the GAPS diet (don’t worry, I didn’t try the diet out), which basically entails having to cut all food groups out and reintroduce them to deal with any “intolerances”. That’s the GAPS diet in a nutshell. It recommends consuming broth and bone marrow broth for the first two weeks before slowly introducing other food groups. This is an extremely restrictive diet that is not accessible to many people at all. But that doesn’t stop medical professionals implicating it in their research - a lesser form of the GAPS diet is introducing dairy slowly to people with an intolerance in order to rid them of it. I think this is reckless and damaging behaviour and something I would not recommend anyone to do, even under the supervision of a medical professional. But don’t just take my word for it - read the book. Read the literature supporting a wholefoods, plant based diet and make your own mind up. It’s not as inaccessible as people think, but it is worth noting that in order to obtain a wholefoods diet, you must be able to cook for yourself using fresh ingredients - this book doesn’t really touch on this, but I think it is definitely something that needs to be discussed. The only downfall of a wholefoods, plant-based diet is that it excludes a lot of groups of people from this lifestyle. However, if veganism continues on the rise that it is currently on, wholefoods will become more accessible as the demand for healthier, plant-based alternatives increases. Even if you’re just concerned about your health, I wholeheartedly reccomend that you try a vegan diet, whether wholefoods or not (there are plenty of meat and dairy substitutes out there now) and see what you think. It’s a learning curve, and a really fun one at that. Trying new foods and learning how to cook with them is fun and can be so cheap. Say goodbye to ill-health and hello to feeling revitalised. This book is written in simple terms and helps breakdown the misconception of health in simple terms. Although I’ve referred to is as a “diet” and the book refers to it as such, it’s more of a lifestyle and one that has handsome benefits for not only physical health but also mental health and well-being and it opens up so many avenues for people wanting to become more lean, or build more muscle or people who want to experiment with food or just become more aware of their lifestyles impact on diet. Going vegan isn’t only about individual health, it helps the environment and animals. Following on from this, I highly recommend watching the following documentaries: What The Health, Folks over Knives, Cowspiracy, and Earthlings. This is more than just a book, this is a chance to help prevent some of the most scary diseases of our time.

Game changer book for me
I'm posting this two years after reading The China Study and what subsequently followed was radically changing into beimg nearly 95% of the time vegan all the time. This book was a game changer for me. If you find the book hard to follow or understand, buy the audio version because I think you will find it's easier to understand and follow. As a engineer and scientist, I followed up and read some of Campbell's journal papers. I was stunned by the findings enough to have a paradigm shift in what I would choose to eat forever more. Like a smoker that quits a bad habit overnight, I did the same with what I ate. No more fast food, added sugar, junk, cows milk, etc. I dumped the western diet and my 50yr habit of what I ate since birth to simply eating...plants. Whole, organic plants is my food of choice. Over a period of 6 months I lost about 52 pounds, my weight dropped from 224 to 172, being 5ft 8in male, this was noticeable to all I new. Seeing is believing. My blood screening numbers are all normal except for B12 and Vit D were found to be low; so I take supplements for only those two things and feel fantastic. Im going on to my 3rd yr now after reading this book and changing to whole plants I feel like I did when I was in grade school with energy and skip in my step. Im writing this with the hope that it gives someone inspiration that they (you) too can do it too. Never being a gym person, I've recently begun to add modest exercise 1 or 2x per week in the past 6 months which makes me feel additionally very good after a 45 min workout. But absolutely, the biggest bang for my my health and feeing good comes most definitely in what I choose to eat. Don't get me wrong, I love chicken wings, cheeseburgers, fries, cookies, cake and pie, but they don't love me. I'd say 90% of what's in a supermarket and 95% of most restaurant menus in the US wont meet a true whole foods, plant based diet. If I were to give advice as to where to start, I would suggest after reading the China Study two things: theres a retired Dr. Esselstyn from the Cleveland Clinic that had a simple breakfast cereal he made at home. My version of it goes like this: 1-1.5 cups of raw oatmeal, sliced fresh strawberries, blueberries, figs, dates, rasins, prunes, add fresh blackberries and/or raspberries or whatever fruit you want. Add ground flax seed and chia seed. Add a sliced banana or two. Add unsweetened and unflavored almond milk. Stir the almond milk so it gets mixed in the raw oats. Wait 5 min then eat. Its very filling. I use all organic produce and oats now to avoid pesticides. The other thing I do is make 2-liters of green smoothies and drink it all throughout my day. I change up the frozen fruit in the smoothie (I'll use frozen mangos, pineapple, strawberries...for leafy green I may use a combo of baby spinach, kale, chard); here is an example of a smoothie I made today: 3 cups baby spinach, 1.5 cups of frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries), 2 apples, 2 pears, ground flax seed and chia seeds, 2 bananas, 2fl-oz of almond milk+2fl-oz of spring water. Blend. Makes 2 liters. Strongly recommend using a blender like a breville "the boss" (i use this and like it alot, sticker shock on price so get ready) or blendtec. After making the smoothie, take two to three large containers of the smoothie with u to work and drink this all through the day. Carry one of these containers with you around the office or in meetings like its you're new coffee mug. Lol. I dumped milk and dairy, and check the labels...I absoultely won't eat anything with added sugar. For dinner, I started out using the "big salad" recipe that can be found at chrisbeatcancer.com In two weeks of consisitent eating whole plant based diet, I began to notice the change and feel better overall; the positive change in two weeks kept me going, week after week, month after month. Dont let people put doubts in your mind. If I can do it, you can do it too if you want it. I hope my note is helpful.
