Does All It Needs To (Well)
I'm not a big watcher of DVDs, occasional rather than regular, and this meets all my needs at a very good price. Because I'm not constantly watching DVDs, I wanted one that did the job of playing them, which this one does, with a remote to give loads of control when you are watching. The door struck me as being a tad flimsy when I first saw it but, of course, the remote puts it out and back in again, so you don't need to touch it, just pop the disk in and away you go. Perfectly practical! Picture quality seems excellent to me plus it plays all my disks, including ones I've made myself from a Freeview recorder/dubber that this is partly to replace (the disk playing function, that is). Homemade disks no problem here. One big consideration for me was the size of its footprint (as they say) and this is a machine about half the size of the normal DVD players, so it sits beside the new Freeview box rather than on top where it might cause heat problems. It doesn't take up any more room than it needs to function, and it functions well too. As a low user, I didn't want to fork out a huge amount and this was almost a steal at the price. It will probably do far more than I've ever found out, seeing I generally only want to bung in a disk (very often Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes) when TV has nothing to offer. In short: Size perfect; Quality of picture excellent (for a non-specialist); Ease of Use, well, even I could use it as soon as I'd plugged it in so that's pretty high praise. At this price you can't go wrong! Highly recommended indeed.

easy and reliable
It is a nice and small DVD player. It really is a multi-region player, so that I can play American DVDs on it. So far, it has been reliable and working well. It is very easy to use, and the video's format can be changed easily via the TV remote control in the same way one changes it on a film broadcast on TV. I can highly recommend it. The parcel arrived swiftly, the item was well packaged.

Great Value, Well-Specified - and Easy to Set Up and Use
Denver DVH-7784 Small Multi Region DVD Player with 1080p Upscaling, HDMI and USB• Picture quality – excellent on my 24" TV• Small: yes; and lightweight, too. (Tip: 4 bits of Blu Tack underneath keep the unit in place when inserting and removing discs)• The remote is perfectly adequate. Its InfraRed operating angle struck me at first as narrow-ish, for which I have since made allowance.• The disc tray doesn't strike me as overly robust: I treat it with due care.• Multi-region capability: as yet untested• Mechanical noise (some) during playback of discs is noticeable• On-screen menus are straightforward and adequate for my needs. Setting-up was ultra easy. Printed instruction manual (enclosed) is concise and covers all controls comprehensively – although specs are seemingly absent. Range of video outputs is accessed through the on-screen menu.• Power lead with UK 3-pin plug comes attached to the player - it is not detachable.• Toslink digital output of sound goes straight into our hifi. Cds sound great.DVD sound using this routing did give rise to sync problems in some cases - the sound was being processed via Toslink and our hifi before the image was rendered, via hdmi, on TV. My work-around is to output sound from the TV into the hifi: sync problem has disappeared.Overall, I am most happy with my purchase – tremendous value.

Noisy but otherwise just what I wanted
This is a dinky little DVD player which hides away so discretely under the television stand that my man didn't realise it was there at all. It works well - the picture and sound are both good. The only quibble is that it is very noisy, especially when loading the disc, and it almost sounds as though there is something wrong with it but other reviews have said similar and the noise abates once the DVD begins to play. The remote control works well, though it is slightly more complicated than it maybe needs to be for basic viewing. No real issues, though - it does what it is meant to do and is fine for the price we paid.

Not Bad. Not Brilliant. Mostly Does Everything A Player Should Do Except For Issues With USB Playback.
I purchased this to replace a rather old Sony DVD player connected to a rather old Panasonic TV (needing a SCART socket on the DVD player). As a bonus this player also has a USB connection so you can play films from USB media. Mostly everything works okay. The DVD player itself is quite noisy when a disk is spinning and were it not for the fact that in my setup the player is in a cabinet with the doors closed, it might be too noisy for me to live with. As for playing back from USB media, well it works fine from a USB stick but it does not work at all from a portable USB hard drive. The player does recognise a portable USB hard drive and you can navigate to find the files you want to play, but once you select something to play - nothing happens.
