I think it's pewter. It's bendy on the sword, but heavy and solid enough. I'm very happy with it's durability (after wearing it on a kilt jacket to several drunker events!)

Looking to buy this for a friend to use as a kilt pin for his wedding. Is the "needle" would be strong enough to go through kilt material?

I recently bought this and it is a very good quality pin. I don't have a kilt myself but it easily goes through a double layer of denim... I suppose it would depend on how many layers of fabric there are on a kilt to go through? Hope this helps!
