Good product.
I like this product a lot. Very naturally formulated. A good way to supplement foliate. Easily absorbed methyl form. I like this company's products in general since I discovered them in the last year or so.

A good adjunct
I have the MTHFR mutation ("compound heterozyte"). My doctor prescribes for me methylfolate 15 mgs. (generic Deplin). I get the same good effect by putting two of these under my tongue and between my cheeks. I take it also with sublingual methycobalamin (methyl B12). I can't begin to express the great benefit I've gotten by finding out my MTHFR status and addressing it with these needed supplements. When you take something sublingually, you can take substantially less that you need if you swallow something. That's why two of these gives me the same benefit as the 15 mgs. of Deplin (or generic). I alternate the two, and do fine, and I increase my intake of foods with folate, being careful not to cook them much or at all, since time and again I've read that cooking destroys folate. By the way if you have the MTHFR mutation, it's best to avoid folic acid in supplements and enriched flours. Whole grain is better for your health anyway, as my doctor reminded me when I asked him about this. I'd totally recommend these pills. Keep in mind that you'll need methyl B12 as well, if you have the MTHFR mutation. When I stop taking these, I really struggle with depression and a sense of overall malaise. Also keep in mind that these pills are meant to be held in the mouth, under the tongue and between the cheeks, moving them around like that, till they dissolve. From my experience, this form of taking supplements is superior to swallowing them, because this way they go directly into your bloodstream. So I take most of my supplements this way now, even those not fashioned to be taken sublingually.*********************************************************A few months have passed since I wrote the above review. I need to amend it. I have the MTHFR mutation ("compound heterozyte"). The small amount of L-methylfolate in these pills, one milligram (same as 1000 micrograms) is not enough for me. My symptoms returned. So I have gone back to the 15- milligram prescription L-methylfolate (Deplin or its generic). I use these little ones for an afternoon pickup as needed. I take the prescription pill first thing in the morning because L-methylfolate is best absorbed sublingually or on an empty stomach. I empty the capsule and put it under my tongue when I get up. You can also get the prescription strength over the counter, and next I will experiment with that. I read that if you have the MTHFR mutation, you need to make sure the form you are getting is L-Methylfolate. Look for that "L".

Easy to take pill
No strokes yet - seems to be doing the job! Medium-sized coated pill, easy to swallow, tasteless, burpless. They are also sold in small capsules and I thought I was ordering those again, but these are just as easy to take.

Lower dose... good form vs capsule
I added this to my supplement stack because of the research but it seems I’m not in the portion of the population that has the genetic deficiency assimilating folate so I did not notice any effects but in no way does that mean it is not a good product I was just petting the tail on the donkey to see what happened.

I sleep so much better, and am confident that I'm providing my body ...
After learning I have a mutation of the MTHFR gene, I read that extra folic acid isn't the way to go. Instead, I needed to be taking folate in a form that my body could actually use. I was tested after multiple miscarriages, so the proper form of folate is certainly my #1 priority! In conjunction with these lozenges, I also started taking more B6. Suddenly, my insomnia (something I thought was completely unrelated) went away. I sleep so much better, and am confident that I'm providing my body (and future children) with the correct supplement for development. Easy to take, and offers me much peace of mind. Thanks!

Do you have the MTHFR gene defect? Get this!!!
I have the MTHFR gene defect. It runs in families. My body doesn't metabolize folic acid. There is only ONE form that it will metabolize. L-Metafolate. I used to take Cerfolin, until my insurance considered it something I didn't truly need, a health food. I went to a doctor that gave me a prescription for something that cost $90 a month. Then I saw this! It is exactly what I need at a much lower price. Why do you need to be able to get folic acid that will metabolize? Because if you don't, you are more likely to get heart disease, stroke, cancer and birth defects when you have babies. Good enough reason for me! My doctor (who has researched this due to his family having the gene defect) said that all women should be screened for the MTHFR defect before they have children. Most doctors will recommend taking MORE folic acid, if you have it, but if you can't metabolize it, it doesn't make any difference how much folic acid you take!

Diarrhea from the inactive ingredient xylitol (sweetner) in this product
My provider recommended L-methylfolate to me d/t lab result that proved my body not absorb folate easily. I was happy with the taste of this product. After 2 months, I had an appt with my provider and explained that I had been having diarrhea 3 times per day for 2 months, which is not normal for me. She asked me what the inactive ingredients in my L-methylfolate are, and told me it was highly likely the xylitol was causing the GI distress. She suggested I change to a brand without this ingredient. I changed brands- and like a miracle- no more diarrhea!Be aware that xylitol causes the side effect of diarrhea only in some persons, not all. Your experience may be completely different than mine.It would be considerate of the company that sells this supplement to notify potential customers that some persons' GI systems are sensitive to the ingredient used to sweeten their product. I won't be purchasing this again.
