Bed is solid wood except for metal center supports; handsome, nice-looking and sturdy
Honestly? Really nice bed frame for the price. The only gripe I have with it is that the supporting legs under the middle of the bed are made of metal, not wood. But everything else is solid wood.I was a little nervous about buying this bed frame because 1) I was worried it might end up looking a little too old-fashioned, and 2) Before this one, I bought and ended up returning a black wooden Zinus bed frame (the Cottage Style Platform Bed with Headboard; do a search for it in Amazon's search bar) where those metal support legs, starting with the middle one, scraped up the hardwood floor in my room and ended up bending to the point that they were no longer totally vertical. I would like my security deposit back, thank you very much.Well first let me say this Rustic Style frame actually looks quite nice and handsome. Despite the price, it doesn't look cheap in any way. The headboard is a good height -- doesn't seem to tower over you like Zinus' black Cottage Style frame (although I was using a mattress that was 2" shorter when I had that frame) -- and this frame as a whole looks better to boot. It also feels very sturdy and solid. As for the three metal support legs running down the center, I bought stick-on square felt pads ("Evelots 120 Self Stick, Heavy Duty Felt Pads for Hard Surfaces, Assorted Sizes") to stick to the bottom of the middle support leg and I haven't had any issues with scraping so far; it slides across the hardwood floor instead of digging into it, and because it doesn't end up getting bent and causing the center bar it's attached to to dip (the one that runs from the head to the foot of the bed underneath the wooden slats), the other two metal supports also don't dip down and dig into the floor. Fingers crossed this is a solution that will work permanently. As far as putting it together, it took me a couple of hours, but I also had to take only one or two pieces at a time into my bedroom while I constructed it piece-by-piece, and was trying to stay quiet so I didn't bother my roommates. The instructions are relatively straightforward, and they have this handy numbering system-- each part is labeled with a number, and it's supposed to attach to another part with the same number, making it easy to know what goes where (the numbers are completely covered once the bed frame is finished so they'll never be visible).Anyway, to sum up-- I definitely recommend getting this frame. It feels so nice to have a nice, supportive 12" hybrid mattress on top of a solid, supportive, nice-looking platform frame like a freakin' adult, instead of sleeping on a mattress on the floor.Pro Tip: I've noticed this bed frame's price seems to fluctuate wildly on amazon at times (google "camelcamelcamel" and search for this bed frame and you'll see what I mean). Unless you really need a bed frame right now, if it's over $400, I might recommend waiting a few weeks or a month or two for the price to drop. I actually got mine through a third party seller on amazon, SleepRevolution, for about $290 at the time. Patience and/or diligence can really net you a good deal in this case.

Super sturdy, and beautiful
This bed is awesome! We recently had to order a lot of new furniture, and nearly all of it was self-assembly. I have huge collection of Allen wrenches now. 😄 This bed was the easiest of all the furniture to assemble. It even comes with a racheting wrench to make things easier. You really can do it mostly by yourself, but having a helper is better. The end product is a beautiful bed that is so super solid, I couldn't believe it. I got a queen for the kiddo, and we were so impressed I ordered a king for us in the master bedroom. Same exact bed, I liked it so much. The price is very reasonable for a solid wood bed. And the best part is it's a platform bed, so you don't need box springs. The slats are close enough together to fully support your mattress. We have a hybrid spring/foam mattress on the queen, and a multi-layer foam on the king. Both are very comfy. The only con is that the little leg in the middle of the bed has led to a few stubbed toes. I had to get used to it being there, it took a few days. Get this bed, you won't regret it!

Gorgeous bedframe, easy assembly, good solid bed!
So I waited a bit to write this review. I read all the negative and positive reviews on this bed before even considering buying this. I did a lot of research on a lot of bedframes. I ordered this bedframe and then found out I was going to have surgery the same day the bedframe was coming!!! I've had a memory foam bed on the floor for awhile now, and was going to have to sleep on the couch after surgery. The bedframe came early!!! I got to set it up and was going to be able to sleep in the bed when I got home. The main issue I read about was with king size beds and the middle metal leg buckling after awhile. So my Dad put a 6x6 block of wood in the place of that leg. I was able to follow all of the instructions so easily, all of the parts were labeled, the screws and washers were labeled I even got a cool socket wrench that came with the tools!!! It was extremely easy to put together, I had it together and the bed made within 2 hours. That included bringing all the parts upstairs, putting it together, putting a bed skirt on, putting the bed back on and making the entire bed. Not bad for an afternoon. For my surgery they had to put a nephrostomy tube in so I had a very sore back and a hard time getting into bed. The 1st few nights I got into one side of the bed and had to crawl into the bed it was the wrong side for me to get into. Not a single creak with me literally crawling into the bed. Now I'm on the other side of the bed and I can get into bed normally. I end up having to lift up my back and adjust the tubing, so a lot of lifting up using my legs once in bed. I haven't heard a crack, creak or moan from the bed. I looked underneath the mattress isn't coming through the slats (I read that was another issue), it is an amazing bedframe. I think Zinnus made a nice solid frame. Thank you for making it and shipping it so fast!Oh! A P.S.- when delivered the outer box will look a little bit beat up, however the inside box is in perfect condition and each piece of the bedframe is wrapped well and I was very impressed with the way it came. The Welcome and Thank You cards Zinnus provided were nice, they're blank so you can send them to people if you want.

Overall Great Bed, Poor Support From Wood Slats
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this bed given how inexpensive it is. It was very easy to put together also. It's beautiful and I would like to keep it. However, I have one huge complaint about the wood slats. They flex which creates sagging. We have a king sized mattress. There is a Center support bar on this bed. I can feel the center support through our mattress (brand new Saatva), and a dip on either side of the center support. I asked my husband to lay in it while I looked under the bed at the wood slats and sure enough they flexed a lot under his weight. We decided to purchase a 4" inch metal foundation from Zinus and we plan to remove the wood slats and use the metal foundation instead. I hope it works because I think this platform bed would ruin our expensive mattress over time due to sagging.
