Around when you need it
I hac a CT20 that was stolen and did without one of these for several years. Not needed very often but they save some walking and getting up and down. This one has some extra features besides being lower in price. The continuity detector has 3 levels; less than 150ohms, rapid red & green flash and beep; 150 to 2.9K ohm, slow green flash & beeps; 2.9K to 5.3K, fast red flash & beeping. The CT20 would say continuity at 2K & less only. These have a GMA100ma fast blow fuse that might protect it if you forget about a live circuit. It has a 5yr warranty and claims to be 6ft drop tested. Thats good, I, myself can't pass the 6ft drop test anymore. This one does not come with a little bag to keep it in, so off to the dollar store.

Took out of the packaging, it worked once and stopped working after that. Unfortunately, used it for the first time a few months after it was purchased and outside of the return window

Worked great for tracking garage door opener sensor/button wires
I bought the Southwire Continuity PRO 40040S to trace the wires for my garage door sensors and button, and it worked out perfectly! This tester made it incredibly easy to identify and trace the wires without any hassle. It’s straightforward to use, even for a homeowner like myself without extensive electrical experience.

great tool just needs a little bit of work before use.
The tool works great ..but the remote feature needs work the way it plug in to the tool itself needs work ...i dont like the connection plug and its hard to align and plug in to the tester but if you use a utility knife and scrape the track on both remote and tester it works fine other wise it bends the connection pin on the remote .. do that before you use it otherwise it's very hard to to avoid bending the connection plug pin its to tight plastic flashing on the slide tracks make it hard to do without bending the plug!!! I bent mine 3 times because of that so scrap that off with a utility knife and you can avoid that problem overall a great tool they just need to change the remote to tool connection method and clean out the plastic flashing so people are not bending the connection plug because of flash mis alignment
