Great for beginners
We got these for my son when he was six, and used them whenever we went out and would use chopsticks. They turn a regular set of chopsticks into, essentially, giant tweezers or small tongs. This teaches the process of grabbing food and getting it to your mouth. Once they've mastered that, you can start teaching normal chopstick usage without the hinges. Think of them as training-wheels for chopsticks. My one quibble is that they don't always fit well. Most restaurant chopsticks are too thin and slip through the hinge. Fortunately, there's an easy fix. Since most chopsticks come with some sort of paper wrapper, you can just coil/wrap part of the wrapper around each chopstick to ensure a tight fit in the hinge. After a little-bit of trial-and error, you'll get the hang of it.They don't last forever, but they do seem to last a while. By the time your child (or chopstick-novice of any age) has worn one out, they're probably ready to fly solo anyway. For the price, you really can't go wrong!Whenever I provide any reviews I always take my time and make sure I understand and have used the product in order to give an educated review. As an Amazon customer, I know how annoying and difficult it is when reviewers can’t be trusted. I try my best to provide all the useful details in my reviews rather than misrepresenting a product’s quality in order to please a seller and I know good sellers always look for true feedback. I was still struggling like The Bride from Kill Bill trying to eat my rice.
I bought these on a whim since I wanted to try to better teach myself how to use chopsticks. I have a favorite restaurant nearby that offers chopsticks with their meals, I can use the chopsticks but I feel like Uma Thurman as "Beatrix Kiddo" in Kill Bill when she was all struggling to eat the rice Master Pai Mei gave her. My hands shake, they get crampy and the food always falls through the middle. Anyway.. needless to say I was hoping these would help but these give me even more struggle. Mainly because the nice chopsticks I ordered aren't here yet, so I only have the plain wooden ones from the restaurant and the hinges slip and slide on all the pairs I have from there so it's safe to assume these don't fit well on handout chopsticks. I'm hoping they will fit on a good pair.UPDATE: I just got my own personal chopsticks and to be honest, I don't really use these pro chops. The reason is, they don't fit any chopsticks that well. I have 3 different sets of chopsticks, two from different restaurants, and my own personal set. Trying to put the chopsticks in the way the directions show at the top of this page is fairly difficult without using some sort of buffer between the chopsticks and the holder. The two from the restaurant can slide completely through the pro chops. My personal set doesn't even fit to match the diagram of how it's supposed to be. I supplied a picture. I'm better off using the chopsticks on my own without the cheater hinges, These are fine if you'd rather spend more time trying to wedge something in to make them fit instead of eating. Wouldn't recommend these for a real set of chopsticks especially if they are thicker than the free ones you get from restaurants.

Chopsticks for Kids
We bought these for my 3 year old because he was always wanting to use real chopsticks. After 1 meal, he had them down and now asks to use them every time we have Asian food. While they are a "cheat" for regular chopstick use, they do help develop hand/eye coordination and dexterity. I've taken one set of the adapters and old pair of chopsticks and we let my son practice picking up small toys and other objects in the sensory table. My only worry is that each adapter seems to be 2 pieces snapped together and some of our chopsticks seem to make the adapter appear to come apart at that seam. We've not had any come apart yet, but if you have very thick decorative chopsticks, they may not fit well. Regular resturant chopsticks seem to work just fine though.

Works well if you have a disability or are confused by chopsticks
So, I have a disability on my right (dominant) hand. I can write well with my right hand but holding a set of chopsticks is impossible. As for my left hand, it’s far too clumsy write, much less to hold chopsticks. These were not a necessity as much as something that I wanted, since I do enjoy eating with chopsticks. I’m using these in hopes to train my left hand to hold them better. They are easy to use and small, so they’re easy to stash in your purse or bag. I would say just be careful removing them from the chopsticks, as they did pinch my finger when I removed the first time. Would buy again!
