PANASONIC Expandable Cordless Phone System with Call Block and Answering Machine - 5 Cordless Handsets - KX-TGD535M (Metallic Black)

Bought this set about a month ago to replace a much older 3-handset model. Nothing was wrong with the old one, just wanted more units around the house and could not find a compatible extra handset. Was a bit worried about some negative reviews, but so far we are very pleased with this set. Set up took less than 5 minutes from opening the box! The sound quality is excellent. No problem with volume. Love the extra call blocking button. This set allows us to hear messages from all handsets as caller leaves it (old set did not). Some complained that the charging stations are too small but we have had no problem with handsets falling out. Button placement and menu items are similar to the old set so convenient for us. Caller ID functions perfectly, no more distortion in the spoken announcement than happened on our old phones (or on Alexa, lol). Caller ID linked up immediately with TV, so easy to see who is calling. The only thing different that we can see is that there is no flashing light signal on handsets to show you have a voicemail. No problem, though, as the screen on the handset says you have a message and can play by hitting one button on the handset. We did not want link2cell so this is a perfect set for us.

This phone arrived on time and I unpacked it. ( guarantee that I would never be able to repack it into that box) Set it up with the main phone in the Kitchen and the hand sets all thru the house. Easy to set up since all handsets just need electric outlet, This system has the ability to block unwanted calls and it does the job !! Each handset has a block call button and once pushed that number is blocked. Not receiving all those robo calls is worth the price of the system. Entered 9 numbers , for speed dial, into the handset in my office and they worked fine. Was suprized when i picked up another handset it didn't show any numbers in the speed dial screen. Don't know if I missed a step that would enter the same numbers in all handsets ?? The system does a good job of announcing calls and the sound quality is excellent. Have also used the intercom which is handy. Sure there are other things I may learn once I interput the directions. But all in all sure don't miss our old phones. So far a very satisfied customer.

This set replaces a 12-year-old very similar Panasonic set in our home that has two handsets that stopped functioning.So far (the first week) this appears to be a nice update to our old set. Some minor operational functions that we've noticed: (1) There's no flashing light on the top edge of each handset when someone's left a message. So we actually have to check a handset from time to time and when we come back into the house to see if someone's left a message. (2) The four-direction center joystick/button isn't flush with the rest of the handset buttons. It protrudes from all of the other buttons and the handset housing itself. When you put the handset face-down on a flat surface that mult-function button gets activated randomly. (3) Somewhat minor, but the letters on the LCD display are smaller than on the previous model even though the display/window looks to be almost the identical size between both versions. We'll get used to it. (4) The handsets' speakers and the base speaker aren't very loud, even when adjusted to the max, which may be a problem for some folk.On a positive note, I'm sure there are a few new features we haven't discovered or explored yet. May actually have to read the enclosed owner's manual. :)

Love having 5 cordless phones; one is being kept as a spare. This Panasonic set replaced two V-Tech sets of 2 phones each, purchased because of the great price. The Panasonic is much more user friendly and the characters on the screen are large and easy to read: Pulling up stored numbers, etc. Our Voice Service Provider also provides voice mail, which has been our preference for many years. Unfortunately, cordless phone manufacturers no longer provide sets that have a "small, red message light" on the base station. Instead, all that is provided is a small envelope emoji on the phone screen with a notice "New Message." A small red message light on the base station is much easier and faster form of notification, similar to a red number on the home digital answering system. Decided to switch to a home answering system set.Also, the base is very compact. It is exactly the same size as the old V-Tech base that didn't have a messaging system.

Love this phone system and the handsets. Larger keypad makes it so much easier to read. I mean I know where the numbers are - but finding the other things have always been a little more difficult - like the call waiting, mute, and the others. I love the call block feature especially with all the robo calls we used to get. There's 2 groups for the phone directory - holding up to 99 numbers. When the phone rings and if it is from one of the numbers in your directory the callers name is announced over the speaker loud enough to hear clearly. If the caller isn't in your directory then just the number is announced. Saving you from having to stop what you're doing to see who's calling and then finding out it's just another robo call. Anyway - a great phone with lots of great ideas put into it.

Call block, timers, phone book, speaker function, and not too expensive.Yes, it's harder to hang up in the charging base than it should be. And yes, it's unfortunate you can't use more than two phones in the house to talk to a third outside line when you have more phones. Ideally, with 5 phones, five people in the house should be able to simultaneously talk to the same outside caller, but I guess not - two's the limit there.I also dislike the fact the unit merely flashes if it records a new message. It should chirp to better attract one's attention, so it's way too easy to not notice you have new messages unless you make a deliberate, conscience effort to check. A chirping reminder once a minute would really be sweet, but alas, they didn't include such a useful feature.

ACTUALIZACIÓN: Los teléfonos siguen funcionando perfecto, no sabía que traen una función donde cuando timbra el teléfono trae una voz que lee el nombre de la persona que está llamando, lo lee del directorio que uno carga en el teléfono, si no tiene un nombre registrado entonces deletrea número por número. La verdad al principio se me hacía medio molesta la función, pero la verdad es que está muy bien porque está timbrando el teléfono y alcanzas a escuchar quien es quien está llamado, y la verdad te evita tener que estar levantándote de tu lugar para ir a ver quien es, la verdad esa función me está gustando mucho.Adicionalmente, es sumamente sencillo bloquear números indeseados, si contestas una llamada de un número molesto lo único que haces es seleccionar en el menú "bloquear llamada" y ya la agrega a una lista de números bloqueados, eso también está muy bien.Muy buena compra, no se van a arrepentir.**************************************************************************************Compré estos teléfonos para reemplazar unos que ya tenían como 10 años en la casa.Están excelentes, tienen muy, muy buen rango, los estoy usando en una casa de tres pisos, donde la base está en el piso intermedio y funcionan perfectamente, tienen mucha claridad y no se nota interferencia; tenía duda que fueran a funcionar bien por la distancia entre los teléfonos y la base, pero funcionan perfectamente.Los teléfonos son de funcionamiento sencillo, hay un modelo que tiene bluetooth pero me decidí por este porque no necesitaba más que unos buenos teléfonos fijos y estos cumplieron perfectamente su cometido, son ligeros, timbran fuerte y se escucha claramente la voz.Me sorprendió que no tuve que programar los teléfonos para que funcionaran entre sí, al sacarlos de la caja y ponerlos a cargar ya estaban conectados entre sí, así que no hubo que empatarlos.Incluye un manual muy claro en inglés, y al final del manual viene una guía rápida en español para poder habilitar las funciones básicas, los teléfonos se pueden configurar para ponerlos en idioma español y que todas las funciones en la pantalla se lean en español.También trae contestadora, aunque yo la deshabilité porque aquí en casa no la usamos, se puede encender y apagar muy fácil desde la base principal de los teléfonos. También trae una opción para que cuando el teléfono timbra también diga quién está llamando, ya sea el número, o el nombre que esté guardado en el directorio de los teléfonos, pero también se puede deshabilitar por si solo quieres que se escuche el timbre.Muy recomendables, fáciles de instalar y de muy buena calidad a pesar de estar lejos entre sí. Excelentes.

Got the phones a few months ago to replace a set of Panasonic phones we'd had for around 6 years. The quality has definitely gone downhill. Phones are very light weight and flimsy feeling. The volume on speaker is too low to be of any use. The worst part is the battery life. Needs recharging after two days - that's worse than the set we replaced.We do like the call block feature a lot. With this being pre-election time, we've been using it a fair bit and it is so nice to now hear the phone ring once and then quit, with the message "Call blocked".

Only had this phone set for a couple of weeks so haven’t had time to truly review. Easy to use. *If* I have a con it is that the base is too light so the phone is easy to tip over. I guess that’s the way of the world that products get cheaply made. So far so good. We’re very happy that numbers put into the phone book are automatically forwarded to all handsets.

Attention aux francophones, le menu n’est qu’en anglais et espagnol.De plus, il n’y a pas de lumière qui clignote quand il y a un message enregistré.

Love the big screen with the contrasting backlight so that I can read the names and numbers from a distance. The feature that tells you who is calling is a bonus. Call blocking is easy to use. I am extremely happy with my phones.
