Decent pen with pedigree
I've begun writing by hand again after decades of keyboarding most of my writing. I had a decent Waterman pen but didn't know where it was after not using it for so many years. I got this one as a replacement for the see through barrel and the low cost. I am very pleased to see that it is NOT made in China !

Waterman Kultur - Nice writer, needs TLC
This pen writes beautifully, but I couldn't keep it from leaking. I tried a cartridge, a universal converter...nothing helped. Please note that I didn't purchase a Waterman converter because it seemed silly to buy yet another 'universal' converter that would cost half the price of the pen. Maybe that would have helped. From what I've read online, though, I don't think it would have mattered.Don't get me wrong: I don't expect a Waterman on the lowest end of the pricing scale to perform the same as one on the highest end, but it is a Waterman after all, and there should be standards that apply to all their products. This was very frustrating because I LOVE the way this pen writes. LOVE IT.I finally landed on the solution--I turned it into an eyedropper fill by using a little silicone grease. I didn't even need an O-ring to beef up the seal because the body and the section fit together so tightly. Now, not only does the pen not leak, it holds a seriously large amount of ink. This solution wouldn't be for everyone, but it worked for me after some months of frustration. Now I can give the pen four stars with a clear conscience. I can't give it five, because it doesn't perform 'out of the box' as I would expect a Waterman to do, but it definitely is a wonderful writer. I would highly recommend it as a great everyday pen once converted to eye dropper fill, because of the volume it will hold and because it's inexpensive. It might not be a great starter pen for someone trying fountain pens for the first time simply because of the leaking issue, but for someone like me who regularly uses 5-7 pens a day with different colored inks and has owned fountain pens for a little while, it's a great addition to my arsenal.

Good
This is my second Waterman Kultur fountain pen.PROS:(1) The proprietary Waterman stainless steel nib provides a smooth, wet, crisp, reliable line using a standard international ink converter and Noodler's ink.(2) The plastic body can be carried in a pocket, bag, backpack, or attaché case without high risk of damage, unlike expensive fountain pens which scratch or deface easily.(3) The cap posts and closes securely.(4) The translucent body allows visual evaluation of the ink supply, so you know how much ink you have and its color without having to open up the barrel or write with it.(5) The spring-tension clip works nicely.(6) The full size is comfortable even for larger hands like mine.CONS:(1) Obviously a low-end fountain pen, so you won't really impress anyone with its apparent luxury. For me, the pros far outweigh the cons. If you want a cheap pen that might look expensive you're better off with a Jinhao, but it won't write as well as this pen does. I'd take a Waterman Kultur over a Jinhao any day.

Came without the ink cartridge
I counted on the ink cartridge but it was not included in the package. I have to improvise

Number "5" and Counting...
I'm a penophile in the highest degree. Anything pen, paper or pad; Game On! I own five Waterman's and have gifted two to friends & family. Top-notch quality, reliable, smooth writing (give it some break-in time) and you'll be hooked! This is the Kultur series which is sometimes called "Demo" pens, because they are translucent & you can see the inner workings. I have another which is not colored, but clear see-thru. I have two very expensive Watermans: the "Phileas" line, different than this one. The name "Phileas" is in regards to the shape of the pen... They have 18K gold nibs that write like silk. This Kultur (German spelling for some reason) is the more reasonable line in cost. About $23.00 on average. The nib is stainless steel, hence the "break-in" period. But, when it's "seasoned, you'll relish the writing experience that only Waterman can provide for French-made fountain pens... They come w/ a 3 yr. warranty, and am actually sending one off tomorrow for a minor repair on the clip. No biggie. Great customer service experience... I will continue to buy Waterman in the future, and I encourage novice fountain pen user to give this reasonably priced series a try. A starter pen so to speak... Enjoy the experience... Best, LeRoy

Classic
Any Waterman product is a treasure to have.Waterman Kultur Demonstrator Fountain Pen is a classic academic fountain pen. It reminds me of the pens that I used in middle school - high school in the 1960s. Nice very light touch easy flow. For me it evokes some very nice nostalgia, PLUS writing with that prestigious name, "Waterman".

so you could update more easily. Anyway
I think wrote a review of this last week...it would be helpful if Amazon kept your reviews tied to your order, so you could update more easily. Anyway. This pen developed a leak inside the barrel, and is now unusable. I purchased an adapter to refill myself...not a new process to me...I have a cheaper but MUCH nicer Waterman I've been using for years. Ink leaks at the point of connection. Thought it might be a bad adapter, so I switched to a cartridge which came with the pen, and that is leaking too. Phooey. Not worth what I paid.
