Metapen has blown away the Apple Pencil
I do not have a bad word to say about this pen. I used an Apple Pencil for about two years before switching to Metapen instead because Apple Pencil broke and the transition was absolutely seamless, if not better.First off, connecting the Metapen is a breeze. All you have to do is double tap the top of the pen and it's immediately turned on. With the Apple Pencil, I usually had to plug it into my iPad before it would even be connected. Metapen connects much easier than Apple Pencil. As for quality of writing and drawing, there is not a clear winner, but multiple pros and cons. Apple Pencil adjusts better to tilting the pen, so if you're writing on the side of the pen to increase line size (I mostly use the pencil for art), Apple is more sensitive to slant. Metapen, however, certainly reacts better to pressure. Apple can be wildly inconsistent with line size and pressure, whereas Metapen is more consistent with line size. Overall, there is not a difference in the writing and drawing functionality, and Metapen does the same things as Apple Pencil for much less money. As for durability, that is no contest- Metapen wins. My Apple Pencil was literally shattered by the time I had to stop using it- it had electrical tape on it and Silly Putty holding the tip on. It broke way too often. I dropped it once and the cap on the charger was immediately fractured. The Metapen does not break, however. It has been trapped under books, bags, water bottles, you name it, and it's still kicking just fine. Metapen is much more durable than Apple Pencil, if only for the fact that I don't have to watch it like a newborn the way I did with my Apple Pencil. As for charging and battery life, Metapen has its pros and cons. Battery life of the pencil is about as long as the Apple Pencil's, if not a bit shorter. I could often get a week or so out of my Apple Pencil, where I get 4-5 days from the Metapen. That said, with the amount you're paying for the Metapen as opposed to what you pay for an Apple Pencil, there's an obvious choice. I spend a lot of time with my pencil writing and drawing as well, so I probably use the pencil more than the average user. Additionally, the Metapen recharges faster than the Apple Pencil, and you don't have to stop using your whole device for it to recharge. You can just plug it into a cord instead of inserting the pencil into the device like you're broadcasting to outer space. It is also easy to see how much battery you have with the Metapen. With the Apple Pencil you can see the exact percentage, but the Metapen has a small light that changes color depending on how much battery your pencil has left. I have found this feature to be quite helpful. The overall pick? Easily Metapen. I have not noticed any cons that I'd trade for an Apple Pencil for, and the value was much more worth it. Don't blow your money on a fancy stylus from Apple, give your $14 to Metapen and move on. The Metapen is just as effective and even more functional.

Sometimes lower-tech is the best tech
I have had both real Apple Pencils and the $20 knockoffs, never could tell a difference with how they worked. However, when I lost my previous $20 knockoff 2nd gen stylus, I was really happy. I had come to hate the automatic magnet charging because it DRAINED my iPad (5th gen Air) so badly. I would charge the iPad and the pencil to fully 100%, leave it unplugged asleep overnight, and it would be 60% in the morning. Use it a few hours during the day and by the next morning 5% or totally dead. I started taking the stylus out and just leaving it on the table, and a 100% charge on the iPad would last 5+ days with the same light use. But it’s super annoying to try to keep track of a loose stylus, and the empty spot in the case bothered me 😂So when I lost it, I was SO EXCITED to buy a stylus that didn’t charge wirelessly!! And this one has been awesome. It comes with the tiniest short kawaii charge cord, but I just use the same cord I charge the iPad on. It charges so fast, especially if you use an iPad size brick (I charged it on my Mac’s power brick one time and it got a full charge in about 5 minutes). And it lasts for days with my level of use (not daily notetaking, like a student, but every other day or so)…I think I’ve charged it 3x in the 6 weeks I’ve had it.The little light on it glows white when charged, then turns to blue, and finally red as it is wearing out. It will still work on red for a long time in my experience.Negatives? 1) Well, it has an open charge port on it, so I guess some people will think that’s ugly. I stopped noticing it after a few days, and will gladly take it over a wireless version vampiring away my iPad battery life for nothing. 2) The “turn-it-on-and-off-by-tapping-the-top” feature is actually cool. However, I was getting confused with it turning off in my hand until I realized I HAVE A HABIT OF TOUCHING MY PENCIL ERASER TO MY LIP or chin when listening/thinking in between writing…thus turning it off. So I’ve mostly trained myself not to do that with the stylus, and if I inadvertently turn it off, it’s my fault, not a design flaw. But be aware if you have a habit of tapping or chewing your pencils. For me, paying half the price for less technology was a win-win!

Works but can be temperamental, great customer service.
Original review:I purchased this to use with my iPad for note taking. It charges pretty quickly, doesn’t scratch the screen, and felt nice to use while writing. It worked well in the beginning but after a month it started lagging and skipping while writing. Now I keep it in my car/bag as a backup but I have purchased an Apple Pencil for everyday use. 3/5 stars for the pencilEdit: The customer service I received was excellent. The seller reached out to replace my defective pen and offered a refund if desired. My customer service rep (Lila) was very polite and helpful. 5/5 for customer service

Outstanding!
I have used an actual Apple Pencil but never owned one. The price seems wild and I could ever bring myself to spend that. This is the first iPad pencil type stylus I have owned and I couldn't ask for more. It feels like I unlocked new features on my iPad. Extremely precise to use and it's beautiful there is no pairing required. You turn it on and it works. I appreciate the USB C charging. I dont see a reason to spend more than the $15 this pencil cost. If it breaks or I lose it, time to buy another.
