Ignore other reviews - look elsewhere for reviews, this is a great unit
I didn't want to buy this unit initially after reading the sparse number of reviews on Amazon. After looking elsewhere for reviews I learned much more about it and those negative reviewers don't know how to handle a beast of a RAID system. Note, install the software to properly configure your raid system.Pricing for this unit is much better from sellers directly. Also, I used to have a Promise Pegasus unit, it appears that WD purchased their software or raid system as it is identical including their software.

Well built, plug and play, NO problems on a Mac network. Works perfectly - movies and music play well. I use it as a media server.
