Q: Does the fans turn on and off automatically?

The fans 100% DO NOT TURN OFF when putting the system in stand-by mode; which unfortunately is what probably 99% of people were/are hoping for. You have to manually turn the fan off unless you power down the PS5 completely; however they do automatically turn on.

Q: Does the fans take air in or suck hot air out?

If you look at the pictures the seller has provided, some of them clearly shows the internal hot air is being pulled from the PS5 to help it cool faster and stay cooler longer.

Q: Can I use this fan vertical or is it only for horizontal?

This fan should work just fine either vertically or horizontally.
