This review is for Denestra - Same for Dogs - S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine - Dog Liver, Joint and Cognitive Support for Larger Dogs - Veterinarian Approved - 400 mg - 60 Tabs. This pill reminded us of Denamarin (without the Silybin) but seems to be just as effective when used in conjunction with milk thistle. We’ve used Denamarin for large dogs for several months but we couldn’t get our dog to take it without a lot of struggle so we were forced to find an alternative solution. He could smell the huge blue pill inside a pill pocket (or any treat) and would not open his mouth to take it. However, he didn’t flinch with these Denestra pills so we’re really happy with them. What a relief! Our alternative solution to Denamarin was to use SAMe in conjunction with Milk Thistle for the Silybin/Silymarin, and he’s been doing really well on them. The only problem is that we have to give him several SAMe pills per day as opposed to just one pill now. Denestra has 400 mg of SAMe per pill vs our old SAMe which was ~56 mg per pill (i.e. 225 mg for 4 pills). Overall, we’re really pleased with these pills and we have not seen any adverse effects on our dog since switching to Denestra. We’ll be going in for his checkup next month so will know for sure then if anything changes. For now, these pills seem to be just as effective for us when used in conjunction with milk thistle. It would be more convenient to administer with Silybin already added (like Denamarin) though, but we’ve managed it so far. We’d give it a 4.8/5.0 - 07/21/2023.

Alright, let me set the record straight. I messed up and got this supplement for my teeny tiny 17-year-old senior dog. Yeah, not the intended audience, but hey, I'm still giving it 5 stars 'cause the instructions are pretty clear and honest.So, here's the deal. If you're thinking of getting this for a smaller pooch and breaking or cutting the pill, don't do it! The instructions and some online studies say that a broken pill might not work as intended since it needs that outer shell to protect it from the digestive tract. So, get the right size for your doggie. The smallest allowed is 35 pounds, double my small dog's size.I know, I know, I saw " for larger dogs" on the label, and I thought I could outsmart it. Nope, the label's right, and I was wrong.Just make sure you read those labels properly and get the right size for your fur baby. Lesson learned

The NASC seal is something I specifically look for and want when purchasing my babies’ supplements as it reassures me of its quality.Denestra will become a part of my senior pup’s healthcare regimen, and I highly recommend it to senior pet parents.

I wish cats were so easy to work with when hiding pills or meds in food. This SAM e is great. No problems with use, Max has had no nausea or gastric issues. The inflammation and joint pain is reduced and his mood is much better. He seems happier. Far less barking at night and a better time with getting up and laying down, comfortably. He's big but showing some signs of aging in his hips and back legs, as well as his mood. He's been more irritable with outside noises, people walking by over the last year. He's a bit more jumpy. After about 3 weeks, he is doing much better. He'll eat the tablets with peanut butter, hot dog, turkey sandwich, and managed to eat around it when left in his dinner bowl.This seems to be an authentic product and did not take long to show effects.5 stars

My dog had only been on it 3 wks. It's hard to say. I read some reviews & it states it might take up to 6 wks before the pills work.Our Bassett is 12 yrs old & very much old for her breed.She still wanders

The pill had to be crushed because it was big and my dog will not eat. Needs to be smaller and good smelling and tasting for them .

I had been wanting to try SAMe for my dogs, and so was glad to find this product. What I like about this particular brand is that it's made in the USA and the tablets are in airtight foil packs, so oxygen can't degrade the ingredients. I am super satisfied knowing that these ingredients are now a part of their diet, after doing a lot of research on SAMe.

The S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine supplement was exactly as advertised and provides all the health benefits to my pets in the product description. It is a great product for pets and a good value for all the benefits it provides.
