Devious firmware update to preclude the use of 3rd party ink.
This WAS a great little printer/copier/scanner until Epson decided to make sure that you couldn't use any other ink but theirs. They surreptitiously had a firmware update to eliminate the ability to use 3rd party ink suppliers. This is bad enough but their own ink doesn't last long enough to justify the added expense. Two orders of ink and you should just go buy another printer. That is what I did. Bought another brand of printer.

Good value for the money.
Uses the 212 carts, instead of the 232's. Otherwise, works well and sets up fairly easily.

Ink is toooooo expensive
Great little printer but the replacement cartridge don't last and are ridiculously expensive. Better to choose a printer with refillable ink. I regret.

Good value
This printer is great for personal use, maybe not for a home office as it is slower than my previous larger Epson printer. For me this is no problem as speed is not necessary for the printing I do. Easy set up, either with wireless or USB port. I'm happy with this printer. Would buy again (at least if this one lasts as long as my previous Epson printer).

Functions great for my needs!
Easy to load ink cartridge, easy to print basic documents (which is what I needed) double-side function worked like a charm!

Feb 2024 firmware bricked printer for remanufactured / generic ink cartridges
This was a great wifi printer for more than a year. Then I let it run a firmware update without researching what that update was actually for. It did not add functionality to the printer. It only bricked it if you use remanufactured or generic ink cartridges. See photo and notice the brand new ink cartridges I have already inserted. I will never buy another Epson printer again. Make your own judgement and let the photo speak for it self. You are not allow past this screen. There is no clear way to downgrade the firmware. It's completely locked tight.

Make sure you only use Epson cartridges
The printer has been working pretty good when we bought it we use the cartridges that came with it which were Epson. We bought a deal pack of two XL cartridges by another manufacturer that were said to be compatible with this printer. The first XL cartridge worked for about a month and then after an update was pushed by Epson today it quit working. I got an error message saying that I needed to install a genuine Epson cartridge. I called Epson and was told that when they pushed us update they put it in the software that the printer will only accept a general Epson cartridge and not another manufacturers. So now I'm out a lot of money with useless ink cartridges and I'm having to go to the store today to buy genuine Epson cartridges in the middle of homeschooling my children. Thanks Epson!
