The media could not be loaded. At first I didn't know what shells I wanted to put these into and I hadn't seen any reviews with pictures of pink/green shells so I decided to start with those. I attached video/pictures so you can see the bleed on them.To put them together I followed the video by extremerate, so I won't give you instructions here because it's an excellent video. I will say you can probably put these on without removing the vibration motor if that connector is being difficult to remove. I checked to make sure the lights worked at the point in their video where they say to, and they did, so I continued. When done, the right joy con was perfect, but on the left some of the red and green LEDs were out. I got busy and didn't open them to see if I could figure out what was going on for a while. They were good enough and I wasn't sure I would keep the shells.When I finally decided I wanted to put them in the purple/blue gradient shells I got from extremerate and opened the joy con, I found the broken LEDs only worked sometimes when they were at a certain angle. Then I looked at the warranty card and saw they had a 6 month warranty and I counted how long it had been: 7 months. Oops. But I decided to use their retail email anyway (and included the video clip of it not working) and asked if I could get just the left side board. I didn't need anything from the right side or the buttons, so I didn't want to pay for a whole other set if I didn't need to. They simply asked for my order number and address and shipped me a new one, no charge! I installed it (checking that it still worked multiple times along the way) and it works perfectly!I'm incredibly pleased with theis LED kit and with the company as a whole. I highly recommend them! If you do buy this product I'd definitely suggest you watch the video first to make sure you know what you're getting into, then when the time comes take your time with it. It's fine to take breaks when you get frustrated or just need to do something else for a bit. And keep checking that it works along the way. Good luck and enjoy!

The media could not be loaded. Not for the weak hearted, or people that are quick to anger. Take your time leave and come back if you have to, take a nap and return to finish the job. It worked as intended and even watched the YouTube tutorial with mute button enabled due to bad music damaging my ear drums 😭

Oh my gosh! Don't even bother with this junkie product. We got it for our son's birthday and today, my husband finally had time to sit down and get it set up for him. What supposedly a 'short' project turned out to be a tedious and long drawn out chore for him. My son and I were watching Rio while husband put it together, by the time the movie ended, he was finally done putting 1 controller together. Mind you, not with the new cool buttons my kid was looking forward to but back to his original switch. My husband spent all that time putting things together to find that it does not work!!! The buttons get stuck and they don't do anything. So hubs, not so silently, had to undo everything. 1 frustrated husband and 1 solely disappointed kiddo. It was a waste of his precious time he could've spent with us watching Rio...

I love the look. The install isn’t too bad, it took me about an hour to do both but I have tons of experience with electronics and mods so time needed may vary.Everything works but now the + and - buttons are difficult to press. You definitely gotta push hard after the install.The lights do not turn on or off automatically as I thought they would. You manually have to hold the sr and sl buttons to turn them off and on which means you gotta slide out the remotes every time you wanna do this. It would be a lot better if they simply powered on when the remote powered on and off when the remote is off.

I love this mod. I paired it with the black shells with the d-pad and the light strip on the top. It turned out great. I'm very happy with it. Nothing wrong with the mod itself. Took a while to get everything put together but well worth the time. Can't blame the product for nintendo having a complicated controller. Took me about an hour and a half to do both controllers with all 3 mods.

They look amazing. I definitely suggest getting an electrical tool kit that has the Phillips and the Y bit that's needed for this project and follow their video carefully. It is a bit of work but very worth it! Had to contact them a bit on my partners because after installation some of the trigger leds didn't work but they sent out new boards and everything is good! The only other thing, the plastic/rubbery bits that go under the +/- buttons, my partner and I didn't find the ones that the kit came with to be responsive enough so we kept the stock ones. Definitely a great mod for anyone looking to upgrade their switch!

I got these for my son who loves his switch. He wanted "fully customized joycons" and we found these. The first set worked very well. It was kind of tedious to get everything perfectly in place, but it fits pretty well. Little did I know that this was the beginning of a nightmare. I had to get more for the other kids, long story short, 4 out of 7 sets worked so far and I had to use one side from one kit and the other from the next. One of them has a couple burned out LEDs, but I just left it as is and they didn't notice. I recommend bench testing these. You can hook the battery and the buttons up, like in my last picture, and turn the LEDs on before you install them. It will potentially save you a lot of time. The fully transparent buttons are also hard to see the letters and arrows according to the kids. They do really set them off, look nice and the kids love them but it might take a few sets to get ones that work.

I can't belive how many reviews say it's hard to install. DUH. They even say it's not an easy project. I had no problem and thought it was pretty fun. I have no prior experience. I would warn against using a light colored shell with it as the light shines through the plastic. Extreme rate did say thier shells are slightly thinner so that's probably part of the problem. Switched to black and it fixed it
