I purchased this for use in a classroom but find that the glare off the board from the pointer disrupts the view of what I am pointing at. So if you were going to use it to point out details in a PowerPoint presentation in a classroom sized room this is probably too strong of a beam for you. It is for me. I'm not sure what I will use it for

Incredibly powerful laser. Super fun to tease my neighbors with. I got them a pair of these also and we mess with each other all the time with them. On a serious note, be very careful and do not shine it in your own or other's eyes or into the sky at night. I could only imagine piloting a plane and a laser like this lighting up my cabin like a UFO tractor beam. Other than that you can't go wrong... Enjoy...

I bought this laser pointer hoping for something better constructed than the typical small cat toy lasers. It definitely is that. Very nice weight, solid and a VERY powerful beam.The beam is actually way too powerful to safely use as a toy with cats. I tried it out first pointing it at a carpet, then a wood floor, and moving the beam around as I would if playing with the cats. In just 4 or 5 seconds, my eyes hurt from the brightness and I had retinal imprints that lasted nearly a minute. That was just from a few seconds at a projected indirect beam.Cat's eyes are much more light sensitive than ours. I'm sure the intensity would be uncomfortable at least, and potentially damaging to their eyes at worst. Especially if they accidentally got a direct beam in the eye while playing.The might be a great tool for other purposes, but not a good toy for kids to play with, or to interact with pets. I hope the seller will note that it is not safe for those purposes.

I use it to chase the geese away for my pond. I read that they see the light as a predator and leave.

I wanted a pointer that would go all the way across my school library when the lights are on so I don't have to stop teaching to show students where specific books are located & this is perfect. The light is bright & long range.
