It is an inexpencive jig.
Working within a budget is my problem. The need for tools to help make things easier, is a balance of cost vs function. I do not have access to the materials to make my own at this time. So, I will make this jig work, even it it is modified beyond recognizing what it once was. I had the need, it does "just" okay at what it is supposed to do. Does need some modifications, be ready to use your engineering skills to use it to it's potential.

Easy to use
It comes with no instructions. If you need instructions you are not ready to use this tool. It's too simple to use to need instructions. But if you need some go to the hardware store and get two 1/4 20 nuts put one nut on the bolt with the knob then screw the knob into the riser plate with the treads going toward the plate with all the holes the blade plate. put the other nut on inbetween the riser and the base plate. Once you have it setup to the angle you want you tighten both nut up against the riser plate this stops the adjustment knob from turning. KEEP IN MIND this is aluminum plate and will strip easy. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BOLTS. You have 3 screws that you can use along the bottom of the knife plate so you can set the bottom of your blade on the screws. You have 2 oblong clamps that you can use to hold your blade firmly against the knife plate use 2 screws for each clamp with a flat washer. You can use just one or use both. You loosen the clamps and slide the tang of the blade under the clamps then lightly tighten the screws. You are now ready to grind. I highly recommend you go on YouTube and watch a few videos on using grinding jigs for grinding bevels in knife blades. They all use the same principles of holding the blade at the correct angle. This unit works as good as my $189.00 jig

It's ok.
It works but is a little jinky to get it right. Not that easy to get a knife on it in a stable way. A little on the small size.

You have to make it your own
It doesn’t come with instructions, but another review I read said something like if you need instructions to use this, you probably shouldn’t be using it. I moved some nuts around and made it work for me. Get a protractor to help you set your angle, or however you want to get your angle, eyeball it or whatever, I’m not your boss. It’s aluminum and steel and if you want to make one instead of buying one, this would be an ok example. I figure my time is worth something, and I decided to buy this one. It works fantastically for me. My grinds have never been cleaner and straighter. Remember it’s threaded aluminum plate. I forgot for a second and really cinched a bolt down, but it didn’t pull out, so no harm no foul.I think it works well, I’d say think about how you make your grinds and determine if this will help you. Then buy it if you want.

Works decent on bigger knives
I would not purchase this jig again. It's built pretty good but it's difficult to maneuver when trying to sharpen smaller knives. Not the easiest thing to use for sharpening small knives. I think you would get better value out of a whetstone or being able to do it by hand.

Great tool for beginners
Nice tool for grinding bevels. I am a beginner knife maker so this help to create consistent bevels on each side of my blades. I did install a jam nut on the angle adjustment screw to prevent accidental turning it and changing the angle. overall I am happy with this purchase.
