My husband is the ice cream eater in the family and he eats a lot of it as it’s his preferred dessert. So when we saw this model at Walmart we decided to give it a try and he loved it. He proclaimed it was THE best ice cream scoop he had used. The metal heated up well under hot water allowing him to slice through easily and having it spring open made dropping it in the bowl a breeze. Unfortunately we did not pay attention to the directions and stuck it in the dishwasher as our go to way of cleaning. The paint started peeling right away and eventually the spring in it gave out. No big deal, we’ll just buy another right? WRONG! We could not find this model anywhere. So when I happened across it here I immediately bought the two pack as a surprise for my husband. To say he was thrilled would be an understatement. So if you want an excellent well-crafted ice cream scoop for a great price this is a go to. Just don’t be surprised if you put it in the dishwasher when it doesn’t last as long.

I have been looking for this scoop for years. It is the BEST ice cream ever. I had a silver one for twenty years and the coating was wearing off. I can't believe that I have been able to locate this scoop. This is why I love using Amazon.

Buy these! My old ones rusted and corroded (even a high quality Pampered Chef chrome plated one). These work brilliantly and the design makes it impossible for a scoop to stay stuck in the scooper even on a humid day.They're easy to clean and comfortable to grip. The fact this has 2 is great because often one person eats ice cream and then someone else sees it and wants ice cream too -- now you don't have to wash the scoop right away because you've always got a 2nd one ready.

I'm a small woman, like everything the size of a 6th grader, so it is hard for me to use this scoop, but my husband loves it. You need large and/or powerful hand muscles to use it, but when you do it scoops well and the ice cream doesn't stick!

As described. A bit skeptical, but it scopes well! Of course it doesnt glide like hot knife in butter, but it is definitely smooth. Have tried on hard and firm ice-cream. Hard ice-cream still needs a bit of effort, but once you have used this, you wont want to go back to anything else.Was originally thinking of getting this or the other branded one. I think this was a very good choice, for its price, you get 2x scopes. Both are excellent in quality. I never use it in a dish washer, just a quick rinse and done!

This ice cream scoop is MARVELOUS! After scooping when you release handles the two sides separate and the ice cream is free to drop in dish. This supplier sells two for less than others sell one -- exactly the same. We bought eight as gifts.

Seems like it MIGHT be durable. But do yourselves a favor and DON'T purchase the two pack because only ONE will arrive.

We are always on the hunt for the best ice cream scoop. I was intrigued by the "release" method and liked that this came as a 2-pack. My first disappointed was learning when it arrived that it's not dishwasher safe. I didn't see this anywhere in the details of the description. The edge of the scoop is a bit blunt so it doesn't cut easily through frozen ice cream. But the bad part for me is how uncomfortable it is to grip the scoop into the closed scooping position and apply the amount of pressure needed to scoop ice cream. I have a weak grip due to carpal tunnel and arthritis. After a few scoops, I had to relinquish the task to my husband. I may try these with dough or batter before calling them a complete loss, but for me they aren't the right tool for ice cream.
